We welcome all players, both new and old and value their contributions to the game.

The above is a statement of own of our most profound principles as Federalists. Because there have been instances of lapses, particularly in the last month I am asking all federalists to sign this as a pledge.

It is easy to get passionate, it is easy to sometimes take things too far in the throws of passion of the game. But is never permissible to stoop to someone else's low level, to take disagreements to the point of insults or to create an environment that makes people feel uncomfortable. The Federalist Party has long been known for having a close knit community, and we should fight to preserve that both from internal and external pressures. We should also, while engaging in intense and passionate debates, maintain boundaries of respect and decency.

I don't want anymore he said/she said, no more "both sides do/did it". We are going to have a clean slate starting here and now, with the signing of this instrument. If anyone is confused as to what this entails or what is acceptable, or is worried that something might be out of line (1) probably should not be saying such things anyway, (2) take time to ask for clarification before shooting first and asking questions later (Considering my Mom's severe illness that will take a while and mean needed time to calm down first).

So without further delay, I ask Federalists to pledge to uphold this basic tenet of our mission statement and platform.

I thank those that have signed so forth.

A little history, our party was the first to include such a phrase and has often defined our approach both to protecting new members from false attacks of sockery to defending the presence of respected elder statesmen from ageist attacks, which were both ironically often hurled by the same people and usually from the left. Tongue

While this doesn't happen as much in these forms, the problem has shifted elsewhere and the Federalist Party should provide a leading example of conduct in a game that is based on voluntary participation and one that can be departed from at any time.

And open, expansive and welcoming game is a cornerstone of Federalist philosophy of freedom and opposition to tyranny of out of control concentrated power, be it executive overreach, biased judiciary (which is the biggest threat to this principle of openness), or tyranny of the majoritarian lynch mob. That is why we are both the party of freedom and the party of the constitution that will protect such freedom.

I encourage our members to continue signing this pledge.
