In another anti-Trump move of defiance, Sen. Jeff Flake donates $100.00 to Democrat Doug Jones and his campaign against Judge Roy Moore.

https://twitter.com/JeffFlake/status/938160754490052609

Strong feeling one of these Never Trump-ers are going to primary him in 2020 for the purpose of just-because.

Uh, Flake's already retiring.

Or are you talking about Moore getting primaried?

Pretty sure they're referring to Flake or another Never Trumper primarying Trump ("another anti-Trump move of defiance" combined with the thread we're in)

Why did you mention his name and then refer to him in the third person

Why wouldn't I refer to him in the third person?  I'm not Jay Inslee and (I assume) neither are you, so I'm not going to use the first or second person when I talk about him.

Senator Al Franken to resign tomorrow, amidst allegations of sexual misconduct.

Just in case if any of you felt like still including him in your 2020 threads... that ship has pretty much sailed.

Does anyone want any of these 2nd and 3rd tier candidates to run? They're gonna try to make some sort of magic happen in IA and NH, but most likely won't.

That said, our 44th President was a 2nd/3rd tier candidate who no one wanted to run.

I don't really know who is going to be running in 2020, but I hope Trump loses.

Iger may well stick around at Disney beyond 2019 if the Disney-Fox deal happens:

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-fox-m-a-walt-disney/disney-ceo-likely-to-extend-tenure-if-fox-deal-happens-wsj-idUSKBN1E030Y

Which I guess would mean no presidential run by him.

If the Disney-Fox deal happens the Presidency will be a downgrade.

Not that I'm aware of.  He was asked about the presidency a year ago, and sounded pretty down on the job:

Nah. Probably 2024 if Trump wins reelection, definitely 2028 if a Dem wins in 2020. He'd have to launch in spring 2019, just a few months into his term as Governor (assuming he wins).

Bill Maher asked him about it on his show (and encouraged him to run), and while he didn't deny it, he didn't seem too enthusiastic either.

It doesn't work out for Newsom even if he wanted to run. Assuming he wins CA-GOV he'd be sworn in Jan 2019 and at the latest announce by July 2019. What kind of accomplishments is he going to gather in that short timeframe, not much time to even build support with your own constituents.

He already has accomplishments re: Same-sex marraige in San Francisco.
