Kirsten Gillibrand looks like she’s becoming a persona non grata in Clintonworld after saying Bill Clinton should have resigned:

Philippe Reines @PhilippeReines
Ken Starr spent $70 million on a consensual blowjob. Senate voted to keep POTUS WJC. But not enough for you @SenGillibrand? Over 20 yrs you took the Clintons’ endorsements, money, and seat. Hypocrite.

Interesting strategy for 2020 primaries. Best of luck.

Seat?

I don't like Gillibrand, but by no means do the Clintons OWN that seat.

That's like saying the Kennedys OWN Warren's seat...

"Hey Hillary, how dare you criticize conservatism after you took the Buckleys' seat"?

Politico notes that, in addition to McAuliffe, Biden and Garcetti have also done some fundraising for the DNC recently, while the other 2020ers have stayed away:

Of course, there's also the fact that Bill Clinton should've been removed from office by the Senate for perjury.  In any case, I like Gillibrand and think she's doing great work in the Senate, but 2020 is just not her cycle.  What I mean by that is that she is, for a variety of reasons, not a good candidate to run against Trump.  She could be President someday, quite possibly even the first female President...but I'm not convinced she can beat Trump.  She might be able to pull it off, but we'd be much better off running Sherrod Brown or even someone like Jason Kander (although he obviously won't be the nominee).  We could certainly do much worse (Julian Castro, Bernie Sanders, Joe "2016 was your last best chance" Biden, Cuomo or *shudder* Kamela Harris), but I'd much rather run someone who like Brown who would be an ideal candidate to run against someone like Trump.  Gillibrand belongs to that group of candidates like Warren and Booker who could win, but would be making things much dicier than they would be with someone like Brown.

This story's a week old, but Merkley gave a non-denial when asked about a 2020 presidential run:

I'm happy that he wants to do it, but sad that he'll almost certainly fail miserably. In any case, if we ever have a big city mayor who becomes a viable presidential contender in the near future, Los Angeles is far more likely to produce him or her than New York or Chicago.

I posted this video of Warren on Colbert in another thread:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIjfH7rc17w

But the part about 2020 comes at about the 3:30 mark.  Colbert asks here about 2020, and she deflects, saying that we've got to be focused on the here and now.

She's a Republican, so she'd either primary Trump or run as an Independent.

Kander is too inexperienced. If he had won his senate race, he'd be a formidable candidate, but that didn't happen.
