I know Chafee joked about running in 2020, and I'm glad he was just joking because his run in 2016 was embarrassing.

Here's a dispatch from Kander's New Hampshire trip:

http://www.wmur.com/article/voting-rights-activist-potential-2020-presidential-candidate-kander-returns-to-nh/18370645

Oddly enough, one of the things Kander mentioned while there was that he'd like to see the voting age lowered to 16.  Will be interesting to see if he tries to take that into a presidential campaign.  Sounds like it might be a better gimmick than Chafee's support for the metric system.  Tongue

>Kander
>Chafee
>Kander has already lost one election

Please no.

Lol what

Ironically he was the purest non-interventionist in the race. I could’ve voted for him.

Biden is talking to his advisors about 2020:

There’s also talk in Biden’s circle of a one term pledge:

TBH this is a good enough reason to not vote for him. A one term pledge erases the single most valuable benefit to winning a presidential election (incumbency) and I wouldn't want to piss it away just for Amtrak Joe

Some people may interpret this as Biden not being confident enough that he'll make the full eight years. Imagine if McCain made this pledge back in 2008 he woud've been hammered over it.

That too. I remember Romney's advisors toyed the same idea around as part of his "I'll fix this country and do my duty" schtick but shot it down when they realized it made him look weak

Tim Ryan's recent early primary state visits may or may not mean he's going to run for president.  But he is throwing cold water on the idea that he'll run for a leadership position in the House again any time soon:

He lost to Roy Blunt, and I really don't want Kander to become the next Chafee who just runs every year for the point of running.

Sanders is writing a new book, that’ll come out just a week after the midterms:

Saw this in the Lipinski thread:

The probability of him running is pretty close to 100% at this point, IMO.
In a way, I kinda wanna see him get the nomination and then lose to Trump just so I can make fun of the Bernie supporters who said he would've won in 2016.

the only good thing about Cuomo running will be when he drops out after getting 0.3% in Iowa

Don't be so generous to Cuomo. He'll get like three caucusers.

I know this is a 2020 thread, but after tonight's CNN Town Hall about Gun Control, I'm quite sure Marco Rubio's political career is toast.

That is all.

He lost a debate to a teenager.

He couldn't just say the word "no."

I wish he had Florida's other seat. I wish that so much. I can't wait until this guy has a long retirement.

Given his seat is up in 2022, and a Democrat probably will win in 2020...I think Rubio wins re-election. But his national ambitions are toast.

This seems pretty close to Sherman-esque? At least the closest we've got since Kaine, if my memory serves?

I'd actually say more revealing than Schiff's answer is the answer given by his consultant ("President is kind of a stretch for a member of the House").  That's not the sort of thing one would say if their boss is actually considering a run for president.  And presumably his own consultant would know if he was thinking about running for president.
