Bernie Sanders will not join the Democratic Party for his 2018 senate campaign, despite urge from DNC to have Sanders and King join the party.

May have been previously posted, but Tom Steyer officially launched a website for his campaign to impeach President Trump: https://www.needtoimpeach.com/

He seems like a highly likely 2020 candidate, or at least a player in the mix.

Why not primary Trump at this point? You're a famous millionaire who millennials and adults are blind enough to vote for out of spite.

In another anti-Trump move of defiance, Sen. Jeff Flake donates $100.00 to Democrat Doug Jones and his campaign against Judge Roy Moore.

https://twitter.com/JeffFlake/status/938160754490052609

Strong feeling one of these Never Trump-ers are going to primary him in 2020 for the purpose of just-because.

Senator Al Franken to resign tomorrow, amidst allegations of sexual misconduct.

Just in case if any of you felt like still including him in your 2020 threads... that ship has pretty much sailed.

Probably satirical, but Bill Kristol seems to believe Nikki Haley could primary Trump in 2020: https://twitter.com/BillKristol/status/939980859633012737

Gillibrand is running. No question.

Any movement on Joe Kennedy III or Caroline Kennedy?

Haven't heard much about them lately, but they're still viable options.

I would say after these last few weeks though, we're all spectators in Bernie/Warren/Gillibrand's race.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo introduces a bill to ban ownership of a firearm by those who have been convicted of domestic violence/assault - more than likely a wholesome piece of legislation but obvious pry at building a 2020 resume - not to mention the questionable Constitutionality of it.

John Kasich has began taking out sponsored ads on Facebook, in a "Country over Party" campaign on his website.

Definitely waging a war against Bannon-esque Republicans.

Observer - Gillibrand emerges as a leader for the Democrats

http://observer.com/2017/12/trump-twitter-fight-kirsten-gillibrand-evolves-into-democratic-leader/

Almost certainly a 2020 candidate at this point.

Former DNC chair candidate, and South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg announced he was engaged today, further becoming one of the biggest names in the LGBT community as 2020 approaches.

Indiana, LGBT, appeals to the white working class - could be a great candidate for the Democrats.

Julian Castro has begun running Facebook advertisements for his Opportunity First PAC, promoting "Progressive Candidates" for 2018, but very likely himself in 2020.

I remember the days of "Rubio and Cruz's Senate careers are done if they run in 2016" too.

No reason for Gillibrand not to pull a Rubio and miss some Senate time in order to run a possibly successful campaign.

CPAC starts in two days but, as with last year, it's mostly been gutted of Trump-skeptical voices, and so it's not a testing ground for likely presidential candidates in the next election cycle, as it has been in years past.  No Kasich, Amash, Sasse, etc., so we're not getting anyone with much chance of running against Trump for the 2020 GOP nomination, unless you actually think Ted Cruz is in that category.  Oddly enough though, Gary Johnson will be there, though participating in a panel discussion rather than a solo speaking slot:

http://cpac.conservative.org/agenda/
http://cpac.conservative.org/speakers/

Oh, and it's not just for Americans.  Among the scheduled speakers are Nigel Farage and Marion Marechal-Le Pen.  Tongue

>Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars as a testimonial of entrepreneuriship
>Education secretary interviewed by The Heritage Foundation

I might actually be a Blue Dog Democrat by 2020.

Here's a dispatch from Kander's New Hampshire trip:

http://www.wmur.com/article/voting-rights-activist-potential-2020-presidential-candidate-kander-returns-to-nh/18370645

Oddly enough, one of the things Kander mentioned while there was that he'd like to see the voting age lowered to 16.  Will be interesting to see if he tries to take that into a presidential campaign.  Sounds like it might be a better gimmick than Chafee's support for the metric system.  Tongue

>Kander
>Chafee
>Kander has already lost one election

Please no.

Lol what

He lost to Roy Blunt, and I really don't want Kander to become the next Chafee who just runs every year for the point of running.
