Bill Maher asked him about it on his show (and encouraged him to run), and while he didn't deny it, he didn't seem too enthusiastic either.

It doesn't work out for Newsom even if he wanted to run. Assuming he wins CA-GOV he'd be sworn in Jan 2019 and at the latest announce by July 2019. What kind of accomplishments is he going to gather in that short timeframe, not much time to even build support with your own constituents.

He already has accomplishments re: Same-sex marraige in San Francisco.
