I'll sponsor it.

I'm strongly in favor of labor unions as a means of protecting people from exploitation and to help them live happier (and more productive) lives. I've met quite a few people who have a lot of respect for their union and it plays an important part of their lives. Anything that makes it easier to forum a union is a positive step in my book. That said, if I'm sponsoring the bill, I'm definitely open to ways to improve the bill if needed.

Senators have 24 hours to object to Senator Siren's sponsorship of the bill.

With no objections, Senator Siren has become the bill's sponsor. Normally I would ask for a post advocating for the bill at this point, but I see the sponsor has already done so. Smiley

The title of section 4 should read "Employee Freedoms and Responsibilities" Tongue

Naturally, I support this. Prioritizing the rights and freedoms of labor union members is a significant issue that is close to my heart. However, I do support the text prohibiting coercion of joining labor unions.

Now that you mentioned it, I just noticed there's two section 4s. Good thing we passed that grammar amendment!

I would note such only clarified a pre-existing process. At least I know I have been correcting grammar already and our equivalent amendment hasn't even reached the floor.

As a strong supporter of labor unions and workers' rights, I support this bill.

I can bring this to a final vote in 24 hours, but I would like to clarify something. Will the practices described in the grammar amendment handle the duplication of Section 4? If not, that's a pretty important fix.

Just wanted to say I strongly support this bill. Labor has been decimated compared to only a few decades ago, and whatever we can do to give workers more power is good news to me.

This is quite a moderate approach in my view, so I can support it.

I would say yes, but it's up to Senator Scott. We could do an official amendment too but then we would have to send it back to the House.

Sponsor feedback isn't necessary on grammar/spelling or formatting changes, PiT.

We probably don't need the struck out portion either for the final bill.

I would like to thank Senator Scott for the clarification. Since there have been no objections and much more than 24 hours have passed, I will open the final vote on this. Senators have 72 hours to vote aye, nay, or abstain.

This bill has enough votes to pass. Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.
