Are there any states Hillary was a perfect fit for?
I.e. are there states that a different Democrat would not have won, or where they had performed much worse?

No? She didn't flip any McCain/Romney states, and failed to carry three Gore/Kerry states. AZ and TX swung left, but who cares if she didn't carry them? Not like she pulled a 2008 IN or a 2004 NM anywhere.

Florida and Arizona.

The former was probably never winnable, but that ground game kept it close where it otherwise would've been a blowout.

And the latter only failed because Obamacare hiked up in the last week and because she invested in it as last minute run.  No one else could've gotten Maricopa that close or coattailed out Joe Arpaio.

Delaware trended pretty strongly to Trump (and was actually closer to the PV than Ohio or Iowa), so that isn't the answer.  Virginia might be the best answer here.

What?! Obama won Florida in 08 and 12, so how the heck wasn't it winnable in 2016? If anything, it should've been a 1-2 point Clinton victory given what we were told.

Anyway, on the topic of the OP, Virginia. Having Kaine on the ticket, and all the money that was spent there. Clinton being an establishment candidate (and a woman) probably helped her margin in the northern burbs even more so. Thats why I think Virginia is still winnable in 2020 for the Republicans (even Trump).

He won it 3 points in the face of 7 point win overall [Bush Jr got the same points despite winning as a whole by 2 over Kerry], and then he barely won in 2012 and it took a week to get the lowest difference since 2000.

In the face of that, the odds were long well before taking into account the panhandle flying off the, well, handle concerning the white vote.

Even Bill couldn't get in '92, and barely tapped in '96 in spite of an 8-point win against Dole.

California, Virginia, and Nevada are all states that are pretty Clintonesque.
