Greens took a -16% in Kreuzberg, that's odd

Popular incumbent with a large personal vote retired. The Greens didn't drop on the list vote.

The compensation seats are not only because of the CSU. There have been actually 46 overhang seats.

CDU: 36
in Baden-Württemberg (11), Sachsen-Anhalt (4), Brandenburg (3), Sachsen (3), Hessen (3), Thüringen (3), Rheinland-Pfalz (3), Schleswig-Holstein (3), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (2), Saarland (1)

CSU: 7

SPD: 3
in Hamburg (2) and Bremen (1)

Right. The system was set up on the assumption that the two leading parties that would win most of the district seats would both be winning 40-ish% of the vote or more. Nowadays, when the leading parties are routinely in the 30s or 20s, they need to think about cutting down on the number of district seats or increasing the number of list seats (the latter being effectively what the overhang seats are, but if they want to reduce the variance in size of the legislature).

What's unusual about the big rural seat in Lower Saxony along the border between East and West where the Greens did so well? And what about that seat in NRW where the FDP had its best result?

What will the green demand in the coalition talks?

Probably no upper limit for new refugees, Diesel ban, state funding of electric vehicles and class action.

What do you mean by "class action"?

Musterfeststellungsklage. Smiley
Class action is the only translation I found.

If several people want to sue a company they have to do it person by person.
By contrast, in the US several people can build a group and sue the company as one unit.

This issue has risen after the diesel scandal.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I'm so happy to tell you I was taught by a genuine lawyer today that class action is indeed the correct translation for Musterfeststellungsklage. 🤩
The grand coalition wanted to pass a Verbandsmusterfeststellungsklage law, but the lobbyists prevailed upon the government to shelve those plans... 🤬

You're absolutely right, although without context it might be clearer what's being referred to to say "class action lawsuit," which is the full term in English (often shortened to "class action").
