I realize it means little, but I'll be praying for you and your family Arch.

Trump’s visit to PR is an utter disaster right now. He straight up told them he blamed the territory for throwing us into some sort of “economic predicament” and did his “around the table praise me” icebreaker.

Puerto Ricans can't vote for President. He doesn't care.

They can if they move to Florida, which many of them will.

It's extremely unfortunate what's happening in Puerto Rico and largely avoidable. Like any sane and empathetic person, I wish this situation never happened and that it improves quickly for the folks on that island. But with that said, I hope there will be enough Puerto Ricans in Florida by 2020 to help tip the state against Trump since they're unable to vote on their island (which is absurd), and that it's shown they're the reason Trump lost Florida. It'd serve his sorry ass right.

This and  sprouts

People have lost their houses, friends, and family members. People are living without heat, electricity. food or shelter. The government is giving them the bare minimum. The Puerto Ricans have a right to be angry, especially when their leader blames them for their woes and refuses to send more help, and instead, berates them on social media.

Sprouts is fishing for reactions, dude

I don't find it amusing. I have friend who are missing.

The moderation team here is generally useless, so the only way to handle posters like that is to ignore them. Hope your friends are alright, man.

Moments like these I wish there was a no-confidence mechanism in U.S. government. I mean, one that actually works in a timely manner, unlike impeachment. Tongue

The Death Toll has risen to 34

This is the first time they've updated the death toll in six days, and I expect this number to rise as there are morgues filled with bodies.

Even a no-confidence motion wouldn't help in this case because his party has a majority of seats in both houses. No-confidence motions only work if the government has a plurality of seats but not a majority.

The Hill: Trump says Puerto Rico's debt needs to be wiped out

If Trump "wipes out" Puerto Rico's debt, that would be a huge surprise and a rare bright spot in what has been an absolutely disastrous administration.

Yep, but one would be a fool to believe anything he says without any indications of action.

I agree with you...I'm not holding my breath, but if he actually does follow through and "wipes out" the debt, it would be the first thing he's done that I will happily stand behind 100%.

Speaking of deaths. Sad See the following.

Just when I thought, ok, the "you've hurt our budget crack was merely low-level insensitivity with a misplaced unempathic joke, listen to how Trump compares the "mere" 16 confirmed deaths to Katrina.

What a flipping sociopath.

Oh, in parliamentary systems majority parties can and will get rid of leaders if there is enough internal discontent - that's how Thatcher fell from being PM, for example, or how Abbott fell recently in Australia, etc.

Were I to write a critique of Donald Trump it would be "The President as Entertainer" with the President connected to a depraved Roman Emperor. Of course this is not the legitimate purpose of the President. But the usual superstar entertainer like Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Wayne Newton, or Michael Jackson has a responsibility to put on a show of a certain quality. When the Trump stunts fail, then he ascribes such to his captive audience of 300 million people.
