If they cut subsidies, eliminate more loopholes and cut useless agencies to reduce the debt brought on by the tax cut, I could support this. Otherwise, I don't think I could support it based on the debt it would incur.

Trump is live now at a WH presser on this and announced that Broadcom will move its HQ back to the US from Singapore. The CEO is standing right behind him (albeit a bit fidgety).

The HQ on its wiki says they are cohqd in San Jose. I am assuming this move will be a single HQ. They are inc out of Singapore, maybe moving inc back to the US.

Again 1.5 trillion over the next 10 years can easily be made up in spending cuts.

Which most of these Republicans won't do due to the assumption of growth as the fix. Some GOP members want actualized cuts but that is few and far between.

Trusting politicians to cut spending at some point down the road is always a bad idea.

^ Truth. It's like standing in the rain without an umbrella or jacket and expecting not to get wet.

then its not this tax plan what made the deficit larger, it was politicians who refused to cut spending.

Right, but if we're not going to cut spending, we are adding that $1.5 T to the deficit, which is a bad idea. It's probably better to just not create that $1.5 T hole in the first place.

^ Agree with this. Which is what the GOP ideology was before the 1980s and what actual fiscal conservatism is, not the phony f.c. that is talked about today by this round of congress critters.

It kills federal student loan interest deductions http://money.cnn.com/2017/11/02/pf/college/house-tax-bill-student-loan-interest-deduction/index.html

I, along with 40 million others, claim this each year. Terrible idea. They do allow states to continue deductions for student loan interest, however.

Can the mods sticky this considering this will be a hot topic until at least late December when they will try to pass it? Thanks.

LMAO. Half of Americans make less than $30k per year; 71% less than $50k per year. To be in the literal Top 1%, all you need to do is earn $250k per year.

Your "upper middle class" figure basically applies to the top 10% of income earners minus the wealthiest 1%. There's nothing "middle" (and certainly not "median") about being in the top 10%.

And anybody who has a $500,000 house is f@%king rich, much less one million. Roll Eyes

Inaccurate. Many homes in NoVA or even in southern VA cost this much for a small house. Also, I know folks who had like a 2 bedroom in SD and 500K would barely get you that out there. Home value, although somewhat indicative of overall income, is a wildly misleading indicator depending on the area of the country being discussed.

RIP Graduate Students, Research Programs, and Higher Education/Professionalization institutions in this country if this passes.

Music to the GOP's ears.

They want more racist uneducated hicks and less grad students. Please and thank you.

Not just Climate change, in every question, College educated Republicans are giving crazy answers. Totally weird, maybe all these crazy conservative organizations in colleges & Infowars is having some effect.

To get a gist of the supposedly educated college Republican, read this from the GMU College Reps http://gmufourthestate.com/2017/10/02/patriot-politics-trump-tweets-by-gmcr/

Excerpt:

"While President Trump’s Twitter habit may concern some people, the concerning aspect of his tweeting is the media’s obsession with it. While the media is obsessing with his tweets, President Trump is accomplishing his agenda. Overreaching EPA regulations are being repealed, prototypes of the wall are being built, the U.S. has left the Paris Climate Agreement, Neil Gorsuch filled the seat vacated by the late Justice Antonin Scalia, the Keystone XL pipeline has been approved. While the media is worrying about his next tweet, President Trump is Making America Great Again."

Borderline cultish.

Praise for dubious achievements.

That's how cults and totalitarian movements operate.

It's not just that, it's that they praise bad decisions like Paris withdrawal and ditching regulations while simultaneously claiming that they are educated. Spoiled brats most likely.

To make things simple I am now just rooting for House to pass this bill as it and call it  a day.  A great policy victory. GOP will get hammered in 2018 but it is worth it from my point of view.  The short term stimulus would mean that Trump will head into 2020 with a solid record of economic growth and could even win re-election which would delay another 4 years from Dems trying to reverse some of this.

In what ways are huge deficit spending and further decreasing revenue thereby incurring more deficit spending a victory? This bill is sure to do that and to make the math work you need to do cuts. Republicans won't cut or streamline discretionary but will only cut non-discretionary items like SS, Medicare, and Medicaid. Those programs could remain solvent with simple fixes, not decimation.

So apparently NOW Trump is okay with a 22% corporate rate.
Even though WH was lobbying hard against Rubio's 20.94%.

What a joke.

Trump is good with whatever. He is desperate for a win and a distraction from the Mueller investigation.

Uh oh, collins refuses to say she will support final bill. Says she has to wait and see.

wow, is she changing her mind?

Who knows what will come out of conference?

A pile of sh**t.

It will be a pile but even so, even if Collins and one more votes against the final bill out of cc, Pence will vote for it if it goes to 50/50.
