Yeah, a pure tax cut would be a bad idea. The US needs tax reform, and preferably revenue neutral tax reform (without extremely rosy growth predictions). We're probably still heading towards a corporate rate cut and a standard deduction increase without any offsets. Tax reform is death the moment Roy Moore (or his Democratic opponent) becomes senator, so they're desperate for anything they can call a victory.
Wait, what?
Moore is a rigid ideologue and he will have most likely irresponsible/unresponable ideas that moderate reps won't back so it will be Ocare all over again

Something that has surfaced recently:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/opposition-taxation-graduate-student-tuition-waivers-and-remissions

The new tax plan aims to tax graduate students' tuition remissions as income, effectively increasing their tax rates anywhere between 100-1,000% on "income" they never see.

The repercussions would be astronomically destructive for higher education and for the upwards mobility of future generations of professionals in the United States.

More info here: http://cgsnet.org/ckfinder/userfiles/files/CGS_Tax_Reform_Scenarios%281%29.pdf

"Example #2: Jose, a doctoral degree student at a public institution had a $14,500 fellowship and was also credited with $9,500 as a tuition/fee waiver.

Under the current law: In 2012, Jose’s tax liability would have been $8,550 and he would have paid $847.50 in federal income tax.

If tuition waivers are considered as taxable income and LLTC is not available: Jose’s tax liability would increase to $18,050, despite the fact he would still take home the same amount of money, and he would have to pay $2,272.50 in federal income tax, or 16% of his fellowship.

Effectively, Jose’s federal income tax would increase by 168%, or $1,425.

I just got a POLITICO alert that the "Senate GOP [is] strongly consider[ing] adding Obamacare mandate repeal to tax bill". Wow, these guys are really trying to tank the one thing they actually have a chance of passing.
Lol what a bunch of incompetent boobs

The thing that shocks me is certain people here say how suburanties were a deadend for dems because once Trump is gone and the culture warrior stuff dies down they'll go back to the GOP but this almost guarantee the suburbs going dem as now they are going to get hit in the pocketbook by Trump/GOP as well

Where the f**k are the Democrats?!? Where the f**k are the healthcare activists?!? This is Obamacare repeal 6.0 + a bunch of horrible tax breaks for billionaires and nobody has been trying to do anything about it.

The left is a f**king joke if we can't even hold people accountable for voting for this sh*t bill. We deserve to keep losing.
Calm down for a second, no Democrat is going to vote for this bill and most are railing against it.

The Democrats are doing exactly what they were the 99 other times the GOP's tried to repeal Obamacare this year. The media's been giving wall to the all coverage to all the sexual harassment/assault allegations and Trump's crazy statements. People aren't paying attention like they were this summer.

There is something really cynical about how Trump is holding this rally and blantly lie to these peoples faces about how he will not benefit from this bill and helping the middle class is its backbone

So Corker and Flake might kill this thing or they are going to pass a half assed version of the already unpopular tax bill

If there is truly one thing dems need to learn from Bernie (aside from the popular/smart progressive policies that is) is to use common sense/simple language when fighting the GOP and calling this bill "class warfare" on the middle class is a perfect example

Sidenote is it wrong to read into the fact that not only does Rosen's comments have a lot more like then Heller's but the first comment in Heller's reply saying "your gone in 2018" also has more likes?
