Yes, "The Star Spangled Banner" is a terrible song anyway.

I've long felt "America the Beautiful" would be a better national anthem, mostly because it was written to be a song, not a poem.

YES PLEASE. Replace it with "America the Beautiful" maybe, or idk someone write a new one that's all nice and patriotic, or maybe just have it be "America, **** Yeah!" I just really dislike the melody of the Star-Spangled Banner, as only someone who butchered a solo of it in middle school choir can.

If we were to write a new anthem, I'd prefer for its tone to be hopeful, saying that we're Americans and we can overcome any challenge we collectively face. But something traditionally patriotic works too as long as the melody is better.

All of these songs are awful, I know its been run into the ground forever, but your taste in music is odd. No one can hear anything the singers are saying, its just a constant murderous whine. Do people really enjoy listening to that?

"God Bless America" by far.  Also how many people know what a "rampart" is?  The Star Spangled Banner is about America resisting military bombardment.

Herbert Hoover signed it the SSB into law as the anthem in 1931.

I'm really surprised "God Bless America" is not the anthem, especially because it references God.  Our motto is "In God We Trust" and God is referenced in so many other American landmarks and speeches.

They should have chosen the song that was the easiest to sing.  How many times has the anthem been butchered by "an up-and-coming singer"?
