Oh, I know what'll happen. No high-profile Dems run since they assume Watts will cruise to reelection, but then something catastrophic happens and these C-list candidates are suddenly poised as if they could actually win the presidency.

Either that, or Trump.

I wanna see Trump run as a Democrat

Don't we have enough Trump in real life? Lol

Concord, NH - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell secured a decisive win in New Hampshire's Democratic Presidential Primary. COLUMBIA, SC - Former Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson won a close primary in South Carolina as Jack Markell won an even closer caucus in Nevada. In both states, Markell continued to poll well with progressive, young, college educated, and female voters as Richardson did particularly well with South Carolina's large veteran population and with independents, moderates, and minority voters in both states. Most analysts agree key to Richardson's South Carolina victory was strong support from the state's suburban voters, and Markell managed to narrowly win Nevada thanks to strong support from union households. Former Agriculture Secretary Jim Doyle exited the presidential race after placing third in South Carolina and fourth in Nevada.

Anything is possible, but he's a bit behind right now.....

March 5, 2016 - Super Saturday 2016: Markell wins 7 contests, Richardson takes 4/b]

TOPEKA, KS - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell secured victories in Democratic contests in Kansas, Maine, Nebraska, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, and the Virgin Islands as opponent Bill Richardson won Mississippi, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Kentucky. Exit polling showed that the Democratic Party's base and younger voters are key to Markell's success as Richardson does particularly well with the elderly. Unlike in prior contests, however, Markell has begun to see a surge of support with moderates and independents.

March 12, 2016 - Markell dominates contests

WASHINGTON, DC - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell's campaign picked up even more momentum as the candidate won contests in Wyoming, Washington D.C., the Northern Marianas, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. With 2,247 delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination, Markell presently has 1,347 to opponent Bill Richardson's 890. In the popular vote, Markell has 6.8 million votes to Richardson's 4.5 million.

March 14, 2016 - President Watts rolls out Democratic endorsements, newspaper backing

ALLENTOWN, PA - President JC Watts secured endorsements from three Democratic lawmakers touted the support of two nationally-recognized newspapers during an event in Pennsylvania. U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania, Governor of Montana Steve Bullock, and U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota all endorsed Watts for re-election. Watts also spoke of endorsements he received from the Tampa Bay Times and Boston Globe. Watts is the first Republican either newspaper has endorsed in decades.

March 15, 2016 - BREAKING: Richardson withdrawals, Markell becomes presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee

SANTA FE, NM - Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson announced that he would end his campaign for President at a press conference outside his New Mexico home. The former candidate endorsed Governor of Delaware Jack Markell for the Presidency. Markell released a statement that reads as follows:

"I thank Governor Richardson and his dedicated team for their contribution to our party. Governor Richardson has served this country with distinction, and he deserves the gratitude of all Americans. Today, I call on all Democrats to join me to challenge President Watts on the important issues facing our country. Over the course of the next several months, our campaign will talk about issues families talk about at their kitchen tables. We'll discuss the need for a fairer economy and protecting the rights of every American. I look forward to the contest ahead."

March 23, 2016 - SURVEY: Watts enjoys double-digit lead nationally, in key states; Watts approval 62%

WASHINGTON, DC - According to a new NBC/WSJ poll, President JC Watts leads Democratic challenger Jack Markell in the race for President both nationally and in several key swing-states. Nationally, Watts leads Delaware's Governor 51%-39%. Watts also enjoys leads in Florida (49%-39%), Colorado (49%-39%), North Carolina (49%-40%), Virginia (49%-41%), Ohio (48%-41%), Iowa (48%-41%), Nevada (47%-41%), Pennsylvania (47%-42%), New Hampshire (47%-43%), Wisconsin (46%-43%), New Mexico (46%-43%), and Michigan (46%-44%). Additionally, 62% of Americans approve of the President's job performance, compared to 31% who disapprove.

May 25, 2016 - Sources: Markell V.P. search narrowed after several Democrats decline offer to be vetted

WASHINGTON, DC - Sources close to the Democratic National Committee and the Markell campaign tell the New York Times that at least five prominent national Democrats, including New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, declined Governor of Delaware Jack Markell's offer to be his running-mate in the 2016 presidential election. Several of the sources confirmed that Washington Senator Patty Murray, Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, and Pennsylvania Congressman Dwight Evans are the three finalists to serve as Markell's running-mate in the 2016 elections. Two sources told the Times that Democrats were "reluctant" to be on a Democratic ticket that most pundits agreed will lose.

July 23, 2016 - Markell selects Rendell as running-mate

SCRANTON, PA - Presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Jack Markell announced that Former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell would be his running-mate in the 2016 election. "At a time when we need change in Washington, I can't think of someone better prepared to help me fight for change than Ed Rendell," Markell said of the ex-Governor.

August 14, 2016 - Vice President Mitt Romney accepts GOP Vice Presidential Nomination

"At this moment in the history of our country, we have a choice to make between two very different candidates with two very different experiences and two very different visions for our future. Four years ago, we experienced the worst recession since the Great Depression. Americans across the nation struggled to make ends meet and were anxious about the future. President Watts and I promised the American people we'd use our respective experiences to work with both political parties to do the necessary things to strengthen our economy, our families, and our country. Four years later and we passed historic tax reform, controls on federal spending, trade that truly is free, sweeping ethics reform, an environmental bill that has worked to clean our air and water, and we reversed eight years of regulations that crushed thousands of businesses. Today, more Americans are working than at any time in the past twenty years. Wages grew at their fastest pace in thirty years last year. The number of Americans lacking health insurance is at a historic low. And we've balanced the budget every year while still investing in our defense, veteran's health care, and environmental protection. We've proven that Republicans and Democrats can work together to get things done. That's why this year, we've seen a record number of Democratic Party leaders endorse our campaign for re-election. Democratic Party activists, Governors, Senators, and members of the House and state legislatures have supported our cause. The President and I have said that in a second term, we will focus on four important goals in addition to continuing the policies of our first term. We will work to end our dependence on foreign sources of energy, invest in our infrastructure, expand choice in veteran's care to help our veterans have greater access to the care they need, and we will make sure the balanced budget amendment we proposed in 2013 becomes the law of the land. Our record and vision stand in stark contrast to our opponents. In Delaware, Jack Markell raised taxes by over $2 billion, increased state debt, increased the size of state government, mishandled state pension funds, and embraced a culture of corruption. As a candidate for President, Governor Markell offers voters nothing new, just the same old, tired ideas that led our country into recession just a few short years ago. This isn't a time for us to move backwards, it's a time for us to move forwards as one united people seeking a more perfect union" - Vice President Mitt Romney, Republican Vice Presidential Nominee

August 15, 2016 - President JC Watts accepts GOP Presidential Nomination

"Four years ago, I stood here at this convention and promised you I'd join you and fight for a new day with renewed hope for our country. Today is a new day and as Americans, we have renewed hope about the future. As I travel the country in asking for your support to continue to serve as your President, I've spoken to countless Americans who believe this nation is more united, hopeful, prosperous, and proud than we were just four years ago. There is a sense in America that things are headed in the right direction. Our economy is creating jobs, people have seen their wages on the rise, crime in our inner-cities is at a generational low, market forces have helped rural communities improve access to health care and broadband, our air and water is cleaner than it's been at any time in the last five decades, our budgets are balanced, a record number of women are attending college, the educational achievement gap along lines of income and race are at their lowest levels ever, and the number of Americans lacking health insurance is at it's lowest rate in forty years. These statistics aren't just numbers, they represent the reality all of us feel everyday. We've proven that Republicans and Democrats can work together to get things done. I'm a proud conservative, and I've been one for my entire life. Our party's majority in Congress and my administration have advanced our shared values by cutting taxes and regulations, embracing free trade, returning power and programs to states, and protecting the sanctity of human life at all stages. But we've also worked with Democrats to clean up corruption, enforce clean air and water, help our veteran's get access to the proper health care, and reform an outdated federal flood mitigation program that didn't get help to those who need it. You, the American people, sent us to Washington D.C. to do what's in your best interests. The accomplishments of the past four years are your accomplishments. Its you, the American people, who create jobs and pay taxes to fund programs, the federal government is supposed to serve you. I'm asking for your support to have the opportunity to continue to serve you for another four years. Tonight, I make this promise to you. As long as I'm President of the United States, you'll have an advocate to protect your constitutional rights, the free enterprise system that made our country what it is, a sensible foreign policy where we protect the homeland, and leadership that truly cares about the most vulnerable in our society. I also promise that in a second term, I'll fight to end our dependence on foreign sources of energy by allowing markets to work, invest in infrastructure across the nation, expand choice in veteran's health care, and we will pass the constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal budget. We'll continue to do what we've done for these past four years: work together as one nation, as one people, and as one government to do what is necessary to make the lives of every American easier" - President JC Watts, Republican Presidential Nominee

August 27, 2016 - Former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell accepts Democratic Vice Presidential Nomination

"If you ask the Republicans, everything in America is just great right now. But we see what they fail to see. We see kids in urban school districts falling behind because this administration decided to play politics and sell a false package of limited government to their base instead of focusing on actually raising the quality of education in our urban schools. We see single mother's in rural communities across this country falling behind because jobs and resources like affordable child care are rare. We see suburban parents having to deal with their kids who are falling victim to addiction. We see veteran's living under bridges, factory workers unable to find work because their job was sent overseas, and senior citizens having to choose between medicine and food. This administration doesn't see what we see, because they don't want to see reality as we know it. Jack Markell and I seek to win this election because we want to do what this administration has failed to do and what Republicans in Congress stopped us from doing in the past. We want to solve problems people face in their everyday lives. The Republicans lecture us about moral values, they tell us government is never the answer, and they tout the same trickle-down economic philosophy that has been debunked time and time again. But what have they actually accomplished for Americans in their everyday lives? The problems we face have been tucked away because a few wealthy people have done well in the stock market and our largest corporations, who donate to the President's campaign, have seen record profits over the last four years. But while this President's career might be protected by his policies, working Americans certainly aren't protected by this administration's policies. Jack Markell and I aren't Washington insiders, we aren't bought and paid for by special interests, and we aren't running to implement a philosophy. We are experienced executives running to do what's right to fight for every American who's struggling to get ahead. It's time for our party, the Democratic Party, to move past ideological labels and talking points. It's time for us to do what needs to be done to restore the American dream, and the first step is to defeat this President on election day" - Former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell, Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee

August 28, 2016 - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell accepts Democratic Presidential Nomination

"I stand before you here tonight because my family, my friends, my home state of Delaware, and Democrats across the nation believe in me, and I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who helped me get to this moment. It is in that spirit that I acknowledge the reality of this campaign. My fellow Democrats, we are not favored to win this election. The pundits say that it's over, but in the end, we know the truth. We know that elections aren't won based on polls or pundits, elections are won on issues and votes. The special interests have dominated politics and public policy for far too long. They have gotten Republicans elected to both houses of Congress, and have endorsed the reckless Republican agenda of gutting entitlements, giving tax breaks to the rich, and supporting trade deals that encourage our jobs to go overseas. When I became Governor of Delaware, the pundits said that I couldn't make our state have world-class infrastructure and higher education. Through hard work, determination, and working with Democrats and Republicans, we proved the pundits wrong. Now, when we need a leader to stop the Republican Congressional agenda in Washington so we can invest in education, infrastructure, and health care access, I'm the person to do it. The President of the United States deserves tremendous credit for working hard to make history. We are all proud that this President has proven that in America, anyone from any backround can grow up to be leader of the free world. But this President has also made history in ways we should not be proud of. Today, a record number of rural counties in America lack adequate access to health insurance. The high school graduation rate in the poorest 10% of school districts in our country is at their highest levels in forty years. Campaigns are now the most expensive they've ever been thanks to dark money entering our politics at a record level as a result of Citizens United. The cost of prescription drugs for our seniors has outpaced inflation and social security payments for three years in a row for the first time in recorded history. Our infrastructure has seen it's steepest decline in world rankings since before World War II. On these issues and so many others, this administration has not led, they have not solved the problems, and it's time for us to take our country back to make the necessary changes. This is our moment to stand up, win this election, and fight for the values we Democrats believe in" - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell, Democratic Presidential Nominee

September 25, 2016 - Survey: Watts enjoys double-digit lead nationally, in swing states

National: Watts 51% Markell 39%
Florida: Watts 50% Markell 39%

Nevada: Watts 47% Markell 42%

It's certainly looking that way.....

October 5, 2016 - Watts, Markell debate foreign policy in first presidential debate

BOSTON, MA - President JC Watts and Democratic Challenger Jack Markell participated in what was generally a contentious debate on foreign policy issues. In what some pundits referred to as a "political party role reversal," the President defended keeping annual increases in defense spending to 1% per year, while Markell called for a defense budget that spent "three times" as much. Watts defended his administration's foreign policy; the President touted an end to the War in Iraq, increased free trade and a reduction in U.S. trade deficits, and renewed peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians as successes of his administration's foreign affairs. Markell was critical of much of the President's foreign policy, but was particularly critical of Watts' lack of communication with Cuba and what he referred to as "complete miscommunication" between the U.S. and Pakistan. Both men generally agreed the U.S. should continue to work with NATO on human rights issues and voiced support for continuing sanctions on Iran and North Korea. The first scientific poll conducted after the debate found most Americans felt Watts won by a margin of 45%-41%.

October 15, 2016 - Romney, Rendell participate in Vice Presidential Debate

LANSING, MI - Vice President Mitt Romney and Former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell participated in the only Vice Presidential Debate of the 2016 campaign season. The two candidates exchanged barbs on a series of topics. The Vice President defended the Watts economic record and the President's decision to continue the Lieberman-era decision to end the War in Iraq as Rendell argued that while the economy was performing well for the very wealthy, many were also left behind. "This administration has presided over the American people created over 12 million new jobs, wages are growing, and poverty is falling. At the same time, we've ended the War in Iraq and can now focus on rebuilding our infrastructure and ending our dependence on foreign sources of energy," Vice President Romney said in response to a question about if the nation is better off in 2016 than it was in 2012. Governor Rendell had a very different answer. "If you look at urban schools, rural mothers unable to afford child care, suburban families being torn apart because of the drug epidemic, and factory towns struggling because the plant that kept them thriving was sent overseas, you'll notice a very different story than the one the Vice President is telling us tonight," Rendell said. A poll conducted at the end of the debate found a majority of respondents, 51%, felt Romney won the debate.

October 23, 2016 - Watts, Markell debate domestic policy in 2nd presidential debate

NEWARK, DE - President JC Watts and Governor of Delaware Jack Markell participated in a debate on domestic issues at the University of Delaware. The President discussed his promises to invest in infrastructure, expand choices in veteran's health care, end the nation's dependence on foreign sources of energy, and implement a constitutional balanced budget amendment in a second term as Markell focused his attention on investing in higher education, health care, women's health, infrastructure, and pledged to pass sweeping campaign finance reform. Pundits noticed a change in strategy for Markell: Markell rarely criticized President Watts and instead was critical of Republicans in Congress and promised to be a "check" on the Republican Congress. The President said he would work with Republicans and Democrats in Congress and pointed out that he's being supported by numerous Congressional Democrats. The first poll following the debate found most Americans felt Watts won the debate by a margin of 45%-38%.

October 28, 2016 - Watts, Markell make closing arguments in final presidential debate

"Four years ago, our economy was in recession and our nation was at War in Iraq. Today, more Americans are working than at any time in a decade, wages are at their highest level in a generation, welfare rolls have hit a 12-year low, home ownership is on the rise, and we have concluded our mission in Iraq. We have done what was once thought to be impossible, we've brought Republicans and Democrats together to put country before politics. I'm a proud conservative and am proud to have the support of the Republican Party. But I'm equally as proud to have the support of a dozen Senate Democrats, twenty House Democrats, and other Democratic leaders across the country. We worked together to reduce taxes, return programs to states, enforce clean air and water rules to combat pollution, embrace free trade, and to get through Congress a proposed constitutional balanced budget amendment that I will help ratify in a second term. As a candidate for re-election, I've talked about the need to give veteran's more choices in health care, invest more in our infrastructure, and end our dependence on foreign sources of energy. But make no mistake about it. I will work with anyone willing to work with me on any challenge that exists or comes our way. After all, the son of the first black police officer in Eufaula, Oklahoma didn't become President of the United States by ducking challenges. I ask for your vote on election day not as a personal validation for me, but as a validation that all we've done together matters and as an acknowledgement that there is more work to do and working together, we can get it done" - President JC Watts

"I understand what it's like to be the underdog, and I know that I am an underdog in this election. But in the end, Americans vote, not polls, pundits, newspapers, or even endorsements. I think Americans are going to vote based on our respective experiences and the programs we've discussed here tonight. I have great respect for the President and the presidency, but I simply have a different vision for our country. Here in Delaware, I invested in infrastructure and higher education as Republicans in Congress proposed cuts to both. While Republicans in Congress were finding ways to propose tax breaks for the rich, I focused on keeping taxes low for working families. My vision for our country is very simple. Instead of focusing on what's best for special interests, lobbyists, and dark money campaign donors, my focus will be the welfare of those who feel they don't have a voice in government right now. Despite what you have heard here tonight or have heard over the course of this campaign, there are millions of Americans who are having a tough time affording college, child care, medicine, and food. The decision you'll make in a few short days is about who will stop Republicans in Congress from passing the agenda supported by their corporate donors. While I do give the President credit for reaching across the aisle on occasion, he has largely passed the corporate agenda supported by Speaker Boehner and Senate Leader Thune. I ask you to please consider voting for me to serve as a check on the Republican Congress and fighting for those who's voices have not been well represented in government" - Governor of Delaware Jack Markell
