2012 GOP Vice Presidential Shortlist:

Michelle Bachmann (Minnesota)
Minnesota State Senator from the 56th District: 2001-2003
Minnesota State Senator from the 52nd District: 2003-2007
U.S. Representative from Minnesota's 6th District: 2007-present

Bachmann was the runner up in a tough primary with the nominee Santorum, and is considered for her outreach towards women and moderates in the rust belt.

Marco Rubio (Florida)
Florida State Representative from the 111 District: 2000-2008
Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives: 2006-2008
U.S. Senator from Florida: 2011-present

Rubio is very popular in the swing state of Florida, and can give Santorum 29 crucial ev's. Also, Rubio can appeal to Latinos.

John Kasich (Ohio)
Ohio State Senator from the 15th District: 1979-1983
U.S. Representative from Ohio's 12th District: 1983-2001
69th Governor of Ohio: 2011-present

Also hailing from swing state, Kasich could be the one to push Santorum over 270. Also, he can appeal to right and left leaning moderates.

Michael Bloomberg (New York)

108th Mayor of New York City: 2002-present

Bloomberg being an independent would win over many moderates and inner city people

Election Night 2012

In the debates, Senator Santorum struggled, but came back strong in the 3rd. Senator Rubio overwhelmingly defeated Vice President Clark in the VP debate. Welcome to Election Night 2012.

7:00 PM

We have the 7:00 results in, let's take a look.

Fmr. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)/Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL): 28 EVs
President Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Vice President Wesley Clark (D-AR): 3 EVs
Too Close to Call: 29 EVs

The usual suspects, but Indiana does flip, no surprise here.

7:30 PM

Fmr. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)/Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL): 33 EVs
President Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Vice President Wesley Clark (D-AR): 3 EVs
Too Close to Call: 62 EVs

WV goes to Rick, while NC and Ohio are tossups.

I'm sorry, but Ohio and Florida are the quintessential bellwethers.  No way do BOTH states vote for the loser.  Plus, a secular state like New Hampshire wouldn't go for the fundy Santorum.

Yes, Ohio and New Hampshire are pretty out there, but in this TL Florida loves Rubio so it votes for Santorum and Ohio moves away from the Democrats.

April 10, 2013 - Secretary of Defense Edwards had extramarital affair!

It has been leaked that Secretary of Defense John Edwards (D-NC) had an extramarital affair with Ms. Rielle Hunter, who worked on his 2008 presidential campaign. The affair was first found in 2007, but was never reported, and may have been covered up by the Democrats. Now, President Clinton must take action to ensure that her approval rating stays high and Democrats regain Senate majority, as well as help a possible Wesley Clark (D-AR) or Joe Biden (D-DE) campaign for President.

May 19, 2013 - Clinton approval rating dips below 45%, sits at 36%

President Clinton's approval ratings sit at 36%. This is due to many factors, including good GOP campaigning, inaction on certain issues with the Democrats, and the Edwards scandal. She must recover to ensure a smooth path for the Democrats in the 2014 midterms and the 2016 election.

July 31, 2013 - Secretary of Defense John Edwards to resign

President Clinton is going to nominate former Secretary Dave Obey, who retired for her second term, until 2014, after the midterms, when she will appoint a new, fresh, secretary.

November 2014 - Republicans gain Senate Majority!; Clinton to choose new SecDef

The Democrats have lost the Senate greatly, a show in the outgoing President Clinton's ratings. Also, Dave Obey has retired a second time, leaving Clinton to choose a new Secretary of Defense. She may promote from within or think outside the box.

February 12, 2015 - John McHugh is appointed as new SecDef;Confirmed 98-1
The first Republican member of the Clinton Cabinet, McHugh is a former U.S. Representative and was a ranking member of the House Armed Services committee. Also, he was a candidate for the Secretary of the Army, but was not chosen.

April 30, 2015 - Lincoln Chaffee announces candidacy for President on the Democratic side, as attention now shifts to whether it will be Clark or Biden running for President.

July 20, 2015 - Secretary of State Joe Biden resigns from his post!

This definitely means that Biden will run for POTUS, and may mean the Clark will be running as well.
