All the time, I see Ron Paul supporters say Rand Paul isn't a real Libertarian, and that he stands for everything his father stood against. And of course, who could forget about Mario Cuomo Smiley and his son Andrew Cuomo Sad
My Question is, which other political families have this same sort of disconnect between the father and son (by "this same sort of disconnect" I mean either the son is very different politically from the father, or a lot of people who like the father aren't too fond of the son)?

Birch and Evan Bayh are obviously vastly different.
I can't imagine pro gay Tulsi Gabbard supporters are big fans of her father.

I just thought of another example. A lot of people who like Robert Casey Sr. are either lukewarm to or dislike Robert Casey Jr.

Ronald Reagan and Ronald Reagan Jr.   Its funny you post this just now because I saw a commercial with Ronald Reagan Jr. on behalf of Secular Coalition for America not 20 minutes ago.  Ronald Reagan Jr. is a convinced atheist, a vocal opponent of the Christian right, its champions and its goals.

I think Ronald Reagan Jr. (who appears occasionally on MSNBC, but otherwise is not well known) has written extensively about his father, as well as his own secularist (and relatively liberal) views, but I have never bothered to read anything he has written. Couldn't comment on that.

Why no mention of George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

HW explicitly did not want to invade Iraq to overthrow Saddam, even though he easily could have. W invaded Iraq to overthrow Saddam.

HW is highly respected amongst intellectual political observers on both sides of the aisle. W is neither.

HW was an intellectual conservative. W was not.

That was going to be my suggestion.

Uh, Barack Hussein Obama, Senior -- and Junior, maybe?

Is there any possibility of disconnects between fathers and daughters?

Joe Kennedy and JFK.

Joe Sr. was an isolationist, while JFK was not.

Kassebaum and Landon are pretty similar, moderate Republicans. Not sure of any other major father-daughter duos.

JFK and Caroline?

Shameless plug for my timeline that features Ron Reagan as a candidate in the crazy 2028 presidential election

I was no Casey Sr fan but I can't stand Junior.  They had some differences but not a "Severe Disconnect", in my view.

Why no mention of King Salman and Crown Prince Salman?

Corruption and evil are cumulative. Only difference is in degree.

Barbara Bush (daughter of George W. Bush) is an artsy liberal Democrat living it up in Manhattan, from what I understand.

She could have gotten that from her mother. I have long heard rumors that FLOTUS Laura came from a democratic family, and personally held pro choice and pro LGBT views throughout her husbands tenure. She kept things very close to the vest publicly though.

Yes, he came to mind when I saw title, he'd be a better leader than DJT.

Hamilton Fish the IV, and his son Hamilton Fish the V.

The father was a moderate Republican congressman from a rural district in upstate NY. The son also ran for Congress, twice, lost both times, but ran as a Democrat.

There's also the Joneses of North Carolina. Walter Jones, Sr. was a Democrat from District 1 for over 25 years. His son, at first, also ran as a Democrat when his father announced retirement. But after losing the Democratic primary, Walter Jr. ran again two years later as a Republican, and has now been serving for over 22 years.
