I say FF because he tried to protect the rights of blacks, fired A. Mitchell Palmer, put an end to the Department of Justice's unconstitutional actions, picked anti-lynching and Native American rights supporter Calvin Coolidge as his running mate, repealed the Sedition Act of 1918, and pardoned those charged under it. Unfortunately, he was naive and therefore was taken advantage of by HPs such as the perpetrators of the Teapot Dome Scandal and failed to forsee the consequences of isolationism.

I knew he was a decent president, but I never knew he did all of this. Definite FF.

He probably would oppose the PATRIOT Act, have opposed the Iraq War from the beginning, and would support pardoning Snowden.

Slight HP. He did some good things like civil rights and pardoning of those arrested by the sedition act but his corruption and the Ohio gang's corruption do that for me along with his failure in hindsight in regards to the policy in Europe.

Sure, but he would have also probably staunchly opposed the New Deal.

Yes, but I'd rather the First Amendment mean something than live in the USSR.

It's hard to believe that the most major Republican oil scandal involving Wyoming public lands was almost a century ago.

That's not what I said. What I meant is that we shouldn't make moral judgements of polticians based on their economic policies, but rather based on their respect for people's rights.

HP (not a fan of bombing strikers). That said, on balance, he was one of our least awful presidents.
