This isn't a complicated bill, so I'll keep my introduction brief. Basically, our existing regional flag is kind of dull and terrible, so this bill presents two possible replacement. The flag in Appendix A is a more traditional design that evokes the banner of the original Union of these states; the second pays homage to the history of Fremont with the Zia sun symbol and the red stripe borrowed from the Bear Flag. We'll need to pick one, obviously, but I thought I'd leave the final choice to the Commons; thoughts?

I like the second flag.

The first is pretty bad, no offense. The American flag is, vexilologically speaking, a bad flag, and we shouldn't be taking pointers from it.

Fair enough — that's why I presented two options. Tongue

With all due respect, I find the first flag to be entirely too chaotic. With that in mind, I also support the second flag, not only on the grounds of aesthetic but also Southwestern pride. Tongue

I'll have to review the issue but flag two is a good flag, flag one isn't good and I agree with Representative Cactus in that is too chaotic.

It seems the consensus is solidly in favor of the second design, which is fine by me. I'll give Ted and Canis a chance to weigh in, then propose an amendment to strike Section 2A if there are no objections.

Seeing no objections, the amendment has been adopted.

Any further thoughts?

The Flag Act passes will a vote of 5-0-1 not voting.

It moves to the PM's desk for further action.
