There would at least be some level of competence...at least enough so that he wouldn’t have us currently on the verge of a major war.

He wouldn’t tweet his every thought.

I seriously doubt there’d have been collusion between his campaign and the Russian government.

There would be no question about his taxes.

He wouldn’t go out of his way to insult others, including foreign leaders.

I don’t believe he’d be a good president. But we would be world’s away from the level we’ve sunk to under Trump.

Congressional Democrats would have considerably less power (not that they have much).

"The Resistance" would not exist. There'd be few protests, no Women's March, and little demand to overturn the election via the electoral college. Charlottesville would not have happened and neither would have the Scalise shooting. Americans would have stopped caring about politics long ago.

Embassy in Jerusalem
Iran deal gone
Out of Paris agreement
Mike Lee instead of Gorsuch
Kennedy retired, Gorsuch nominated
Better relationship with congress, no Russia distractions, etc gives more chance for success of aca repeal/ tax reform

The LGBT community would be angry instead of the Mexican and Muslim communities.

The LGBT community is angry with this administration too. It just hasn't been focused on because of the bigger dumpster fires with other communities/issues.

Considering how 90% of republicans in the Senate hate him, relations with Congress would probably not be any better

I think he would have been weaker than Trump. He would have had trouble in the Rust Belt. He might of done much better in Texas and Utah... maybe Florida.  I could see him getting a PV like Trump did and lose.

Appointees and cabinet secretaries would not be based on if you were a multi millionaire or a billionaire.

Nothing would have gotten done in terms of the legislative agenda. As much as R's don't want to admit it, the party is fractured and that is a problem that goes beyond Trump.

But US would still have credibility when it comes to foreign policy. That is the area where Trump has really hurt the country.

Obamacare repeal would have been an identical fiasco.

Yes it would. That’s what republicans do, not just Trump

Nothing really, except "The Resistance" wouldn't be so instant and it would be based on actual policy failures.

Foreign Policy would be just as much of a joke, possibly even worse since there'd be Russia antagonism again. At least Trump's keeping that element at bay, even if clearly from a pawn stance.

- Wouldn't withdraw funding from SNC/Rojava
- Wouldn't cut NASA spending
- Would pass 24 week abortion ban(Murkowski, Collins against; Heitkamp, Manchin, Donnelly, Casey, Tester, McCaskill for)
- Federal sales tax or VAT

I could maybe see a "skinny repeal" mainly focused on the mandates.

Ken Cuccinelli most likely, but Sessions would have been a contender.

It would be a disaster, but he'd at least have the basic fitness to serve and be vaguely competent. Trump's policies and legislative failures but without his personal failures.

This. Although Cruz, IMHO, isn't any more likeable on a personal level than Trump.

We'd probably have John Bolton as Secretary of State and Tom Cotton as Secretary of Defense.

So......not much better IMO.

Cruz is more competent, but his lack of pragmatism and his utter zealotry scares me even more than Trump could.

Puerto Ricans wouldn't be under threat of being abandoned in their time of need, or so I would hope.
