Well I haven't rushed to his defense because I'm actually against rape and sexual assault. No doubt there's sexism on the left, but it hasn't manifested itself much in a high profile way since Hillary won the Democratic nomination last year. I don't expect that to last.

Liberals have a more optimistic view of human behavior and recognize depraved behavior as abnormal. Just as they did not come to the defense of Bill Cosby they did not come to the aid of Harvey Sweinstein. Because of liberals believing that human nature is more normally decent and humane, liberals can treat sexual predators like Anthony Weiner and such corrupt pols as Dan Rostenkowski and William "Cold Cash" Jefferson as betrayers of all that is good in human nature. But right-wingers have a more pessimistic view of human nature, and when one of their idols rails against abortion but presses a mistress to have an abortion, well, that is simply human nature.   

OK. Imagine me as a bigwig in the movie business. Would I use a casting couch? No. Imagine me as an elected official. Would I accept bribes? No. Human nature may be imperfect, but we can assume that if we choose our leaders we want the best from among ourselves in government, commerce, and the professions. Power is not an excuse for evil.
