He's an extremely capable businessman with impeccable moral character and a long record of success. He should have been elected president. Massive FF.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Have you ever read up on any of the things Mitt Romney has done for people in his life? From building a playground in honor of a 12 year old child that died of cystic fibrosis (and helping personally maintain the grounds), to paying the college tuition of a girl whose father, a Bain Capital employee, had died, to helping a dying 14 year old boy write his last wishes to his parents, Romney is truly a remarkable human being. His political/business record are impressive enough, but on top of that, he truly cares about people.

I never knew those two stories, honestly.

There are even more examples in this article: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/331580/decency-mitt-deroy-murdock

It's shameful that the Obama campaign railed against Romney as some kind of heartless robot who only cared about profits over people. Nothing could be have been further from the truth.

That's kind of how elections work.  Candidates who get painted as out-of-touch elitists tend not to recover.  Just ask every losing presidential nominee since Bush Sr.

HP... bit of a soulless technocrat, but probably would have been preferable as president to both Dubya and Little Trumpy.

You're not going to top the ultimate opinion of Mitt Romney thread:

Seriously though, I retroactively wish he'd been elected in 2012, since it would mean that Trump wouldn't be president right now.

We can't be sure of that.

HP as a politician, and I'm glad he didn't win. Harry Reid was 100% correct on his assessment.

But as a person, what I can remember of him personally was not actually all that bad. Great sense of humor, decent oration...but still a little stiff.

Orson's a much more affable guy.

Wait, when did you meet him? And which Orson do you think I'm referring to?

I didn't really like him during the 2012 primaries, he won me over during the GE, and liked him ever since.

"Conservative populists" are just as much (if not more) "RINOs" as the hated "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" types.  Good thing Romney is neither, though.
