Let's say that despite all of the scandals, self-inflicted wounds, and the Democratic Party's best try, Donald Trump is re-elected president in 2020. How would this forum react?

It depends on what he does between now and then and who the Democrats nominate.

If Trump continues down his current path, then my reaction would be "scared."

If he somehow starts to pursue policies that I personally like, then my reaction would probably be somewhere between "concerned" and "optimistic."

Wonder how he was able to rig the electronic voting machines in key precincts.

Assuming he keeps acting and governing the way he has, I would be scared. Scared for the future of this country (and the world), and the fact that a significant portion of Americans decided to vote for him again.

*Waking up the next morning after passing out drunk on election night*
Me: "Where is America? Is she safe? Is she alright?"
Atlas: "It seems in white people's anger they killed her."
Me: "What? But she was alive. The Democrat was winning. I felt it!"

At least the Democrats won't be blamed for the inevitable downturn, because delaying it until 2020 is the only plausible way for him to win.

At that point, I'll have my PhD, and I'll be moving out of the country. There are plenty of other opportunities in the world.

Remember all those whiners who said they would leave the country after the 2016 election?

How many of them left?

Not a Trump supporter but I actually agree with this. Can't believe she's still here Sad

I will seriously begin to question the legitimacy of the EC and the mental stability of America.

Hey, I never said I would leave in 2016 nor could I. By 2020, the sky is the limit, and I have no intention of staying in a place with trash ideologies. I might change my mind by then (depending on a number of other factors), but we'll see.

As there is a political thread about Madonna, I have to give credit to her that she moves away from the US to Europe whenever a crazy Republican is at the helm. I am not a fan of hers, but she definitely abides by her word.

I guess I'd be being forced to say "Heil Trump!", as I cannot realistically leave the country.

question if our country is truly a democracy if he loses the popular vote again and wonder if we actually do have rigged elections

To be fair, the United States has never been a democracy.

I will seriously begin to question the legitimacy of the EC and the mental stability of America.

Both of those should've already been much in question even before the 2016 election, much less after it. lol

Anyway, the forum would probably implode again, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. If they elected him once, it's not exactly a stretch to see them electing him again. Also, Satan (R) would start with 45% of the vote against Jesus (D), so you're pretty much within spitting distance of 50% just for showing up. And that's not even taking into account that you can win with less than 50% due to third parties, or even less votes than your opponent due to the electoral college...

Matthew 4:9 - "All this I will give you," he (Satan) said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

Satan's approach is eerily similar to the Democratic Party's pitch to the poor! Wink (Not trying to start a religious argument, just didn't want to let that go unresponded to.)
