Ukrainians giving Nazi salutes has a special type of irony too it.
They're not giving a Nazi salute. Ukrainian nationalism is unfourtunately still popular, and they had their own sort of Nazis lead by Stepan Bandera. They used to murder Germans, Jews, Polish and Russians indiscriminately- for them, everyone is inferior, and Ukrainians are superior.
Kind of expected as the battleground between the only two superpowers to fight a brutal war while bordering each other. If they hadn’t, it’s probable that the Nazis and Soviets would have enslaved/interned/mass murdered even more.
