I can understand why LGBT people would have issues with the Republican Party given the quantity of prominent anti-LGBT politicians, and I certainly can't begrudge people who choose to distance themselves from the party over it. At the same time I admire LGBT Republicans for believing strongly enough in what the party stands for to be able to look beyond that, and also for working to push the party in the right direction on LGBT issues.

Like you, I can TOTALLY see why an LGBT person would never associate with the Republican Party, but what I can't see is why a liberal/Democrat would berate a conservative LGBT person for putting in real time and effort trying to do the bolded ... it would be an objetively good thing for the LGBT community for this to happen, yet many get called - as I shockingly read from a REAL top tier poster in this very thread - an "Uncle Tom."  Unbelievable.

I mean, I was making fun of anyone who'd actually utter that term, but yeah; same idea. Smiley

Proof that GOP is another Satanist/Cultural Marxist party. All sodomites and trannies = HP and deserving of godly justice.

You use those terms again to refer to members of the LGBT community, and I will make sure that it gets infracted. It is not appropriate on this forum to use perforative terms when describing a group of people based on who they are.  Given that you are new, I am just going to give you a warning for the moment.

Neither. If someone is LGBT but agrees with the GOP on more issues they should vote GOP. Doesn't make them any better or worse than anyone else in my opinion. I think the LGBT vote will slowly drift towards being more even, although that may be stalled if more figures like Roy Moore gain power in the party.

The only way the LGBT vote will become more even, something I don't see ever happening, is if the GOP would stop electing homophobic assholes like Marsha Blackburn, Mike Pence, Kelli Ward or, like you said, Roy Moore. But under Trump, that wont happen.

I saw Blackburn yesterday. She is running for Corker's seat in the Senate.

She's in hot water now for a lot more than LGBT issues:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/17/politics/marsha-blackburn-tennessee-senate-drug-bill/index.html

Will Bannon have a key competitor in the primary for her even though she is a key Trump transition team member? Or is she the Bannon candidate? The other two listed in Ballotpedia are a former Democrat - Krim and Ogles.

Kelli Ward, she is not in the Senate yet and has not been elected. Of course she is challenging Jeff Flake now after a previous challenge against the war-mongering McCain.

Of course there are LGBT Republicans as there are evangelical Christian Democrats.

To reduce someone to one issue is ignoring all the particulars that may come into the individual's decision and to try to call it irrational or 'against type' is a paternalistic view which is typical of today's identity politics. Many of the same people will also consider any black or Hispanic that does not vote Democrat as a 'traitor', 'coconut/oreo', and so forth. Which in my book is bigoted and an unnecessary division.

my vote is based on LGBT Republican officials. Really too broad of a question for most people, even with the relatively few LGBT Republicans. I'd say that, like most people, somewhere in the middle.

My personal opinion is an HP. I could see gay people supporting someone like Rubio or Kasich, but under Trump? No. I cannot understand their logic.

Um, Rubio is a hardcore social conservative and Kasich is only very slightly more moderate than Rubio on social issues.

Ones that make it a point to constantly point out they're gay AND Republican and insist everyone recognize their special snowflake status even in situations that have little to nothing to do with politics (i.e. attention whores) are massive HPs. Also, the ones that oppose their own rights are obviously HPs. Some, I assume, are good people. Wink
