If the various investigations find that there's sufficient evidence of serious offenses, then I want him to be impeached.  If they exonerate him, then I don't; impeachment for political reasons only would be a dangerous precedent. 

I think the former is more likely than the latter, but it's by no means a certainty.

It's gonna be tough for anything pro-GOP to happen in CA nowadays, and Governor Brown is no Gray Davis

I would welcome them to waste their money. Even Davis with approval in the mid-20s still managed to keep 45% of the electorate on his side. Let's see how this would work with an actual popular Governor in opposition to the very unpopular man in the White House. I think California voters would elect Jerry Brown Governor-for-life if that was an option (and I can't say that's a bad idea).
