Flake (and Corker) certainly agree with Trump on 90% of his authoritarian and draconian policy proposals, he just doesn't like that the buffoon president has trouble getting it done.

I listened to Sen. Flake give his speech.  It was designed to seem thoughtful, but it wasn't as thoughtful as it seemed.  It was an anti-populist rant.  Please clap.

The most offensive part of the speech was this:

Folks like Jeff Flake want everyone to sing Kum Bah Yah as the gap between the 1% and the 99% increases.  And he's helped; he's one of the folks with good manners and clean language who has worked to give working people shaft.

Nah. Flake was always going to lose to Ward. He was never going to be the nominee next year.

That's true, but this increases the possibility that some less extreme GOP candidates may now run, and if one of them wins they're likely to do better versus Sinema than Ward would.

Senators Kelli Ward and Roy Moore. This new class of senators will make Cruz look moderate.

Much of trump's advisors and administration officials have been self-deporting.

Yeah. I really don't trust anything the Senate Leadership Fund says. If anything, I'm now more convinced Ward is the nominee.

Flake has an op-ed in today's Washington Post, titled "Enough": https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/enough--it-is-time-to-stand-up-to-trump/2017/10/24/12488ee4-b908-11e7-a908-a3470754bbb9_story.html

If you oppose a person for being a narcissistic a**hole, that doesn't mean you have to abandon your beliefs in certain issues in order to actually be opposed.

Worth pointing out that despite passionately claiming to be in favour of free trade and citng that as a main point of disagreement with Trump, he still voted to confirm trumps nominee for trade representative; Robert Lighthizer.

And keep in mind that McCain voted against Lighthizer (citing his protectionism as the main reason). So if Flake is so principled why didn't he vote against him? Yet more evidence that Flake is a moronic reverse triangulator and just enjoys having the media fawn over him.

Senators Flake and . Corker expose nothing that we liberals do not already know. Donald Trump is incompatible by ability, preparation, temperament, and moral compass for the Presidency. Conservative Republicans may be finding out later than liberal Democrats that the Presidnt's moral universe is a steaming pile of fresh dog droppings. In this he is like some Communists in the Soviet bloc recognizing as their systems start to unravel that what they have supported is economic failure and moral emptiness.

We do not yet have a full-blown dictatorship, but we aren't far away. We have yet to cross the political equivalent of the maelstrom of hot gases surrounding a black hole, let alone the event horizon surrounding a black hole. We can still turn back.

We are stuck with some reversals of liberal ideals. But we can undo that. We also have a few problems to solve other than Donald Trump -- like a cultural climate that makes him possible. We need to separate politics from entertainment, something that the Romans learned the hard way with Nero, Caligula, and Commodus -- and that wise people found obvious by knowledge of those hideous examples of cruel misrule.

Integrity matters. Objective reality matters. Caution matters. Kindness matters. Fairness matters.  Legal formalities matter. These all matter far more than some precious agenda or some bloated personality.

Implying Jeff Flake has anything remotely resembling principles.
