What if Donald Rumsfeld had been Nixon's VP pick? Would he have succeeded Nixon after Watergate? If so, what would his presidency have been like?

At the time, Rumsfeld was a three-term Congressman from northern Illinois, who had a record of supporting civil rights legislation while opposing the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. Certainly, he could have helped Nixon at the ballot box.
