https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/17/hillary-clinton-says-she-will-not-run-again-for-president-but-will-continue-to-call-out-trump.html

Hillary Clinton said she will not run for president again but will stay involved in politics and continue to speak out against President Donald Trump.

Her comments came after Trump tweeted Monday that he hoped Clinton would run in 2020.

She told the BBC she hadn't planned for the possibility that she would lose the 2016 election.

"I thought I was going to win, I thought I'd have the awesome responsibility and great honor of being the first woman president," she said.

"I had not worked on a concession speech, I had worked on a speech celebrating a victory. … And it all came crashing down," she said.

What is it with this trend of not writing the concession speech until after the networks project your loss? First Romney did it, and now Hillary. Honestly doesn't make sense to me. If you've lost, you've lost, and it's best to just get out there quickly, make your remarks, and move on to the next chapter of your life.

I still wouldn't put it past her. I could imagine her coming out in 2019 saying something along the lines of "I hadn't planned on running again, but current events are so dire, I feel a civic duty to do so." Clinton family ambition is an unparalleled force of nature.

Yes as of right now, I just don’t see it in the cards but that could ofcourse change over time, it’s not set in stone imo.

Right? It's the easiest speech in the world to make:

- Congratulate the winner
- "The voters have made their decision" and "We will get behind the next President and unite the country"
- Thank supporters/volunteers/workers/family
- A 2-3 minute summary of what the campaign stood for
- And what the campaign "accomplished" and how you wish you succeeded
- "Thank you and God bless America!"

Right. And the whole God bless America thing is annoying but politically necessary, I suppose.

Lol I remember when Trump didn't say "God bless America!" in his victory speech all of a sudden it became a minor controversy even among leftist fedora atheists.

Trump could cure cancer and anti-Trumpers would say he's attacking the pharmaceutical industry.

Let's hope she retires. She needs to let someone like Harris,Gillibrand to have the spotlight. The ship has sailed.

Hillary Clinton and the Establishment feel she is OWED the Presidency. That it was STOLEN from her.

That self entitlement is hard to defeat.

At this point Clinton would just want to be the first female President. She could win and get inaugurated, but have a shorter Presidency than Harrison as long as she is in the books as the "first woman President."

These people were so confident they would frequently mock Trump's low poll numbers; criticize Trump for saying the election is "rigged;" say they don't even pay attention to him anymore, etc. etc.

They're now trying to tell us that a few Russian teenagers buying ads on Facebook or Pokemon Go literally swung the election. They're THAT irrational.

Just want to flag that Clinton's staff did write a concession speech (source: read Clinton's book). The point Clinton is making might be that she didn't personally work on it or was not emotionally prepared to lose. In her book, Clinton says that she didn't like the first draft of the concession speech and they worked on it overnight, etc.

I just wish she had lost to a sane Republican. That's my only regret.

Thanks for your service Sec. Clinton. I look forward to her endorsing the 2020 nominee at the DNC.

You do realize this statement is false right?

First, it wasn’t “a few Russian teenagers,” it was the Russian government.

Second, it’s not Hillary and the Dems trying to convince us of this.  Our intelligence agencies have confirmed it happened.  The only question is to what extent and whether or not the president colluded with them or had knowledge of their interference.

I suspect you know both of these points, deep down, but rational thought is buried beneath your blind faith and devotion to a deranged narcissist.

Imagine how desperate they were to search for those $100,000 in ads. After relentless pressure they were able to find about $100,000 worth of ads. Anyone who is honest would know that the tiny number of these advertisements - that were only unearthed after frantic and relentless searches by social media platforms after they were put under intense pressure from politicians to come up with something - with their vague and contradictory matieral, and their "supposed" ties to Russia, in fact DOES prove that there was no sinister Russian plot last year to swing the election to Trump.

Almost none of them were even pro-Trump, and they haven't "confirmed" they're from the Russian government. Just that there are arbitrary "links" to the Kremlin.

This is why the narrative has gone from "Putin favoring Trump to win" to "Putin was trying to divide Americans."

Far more than the current president.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion.

The "intelligence community" said Iraq had WMDs.

You didn't expect to  lose and I understand. You're perplexed on how you lost so you are clearly looking to cope. Your way of coping is to say "Trump didn't beat us - it was the damn 'Russian' Pokemon Go ad nobody ever used!"

It's the same way Republicans coped during the primaries - "Trump isn't beating us - he's clearly working with the Clintons to damage the GOP!"

You're a victim of Trump's dominance and you hate that. But there is still room on the Trump Train if you want to hop on.

A large portion of those $100k in ads aired after the election. How pathetic is it to spend $1 billion and lose to a 5 figure sum?

A large portion of those $100k in ads aired after the election. How pathetic is it to spend $1 billion and lose to a 5 figure sum?

They've become absolutely irrational and have gone insane. They've got something called "Hysteria." They TRULY believed that not only Clinton was going to win, but it was HER turn.

Literally. No exaggeration - that Clinton was OWED the Presidency. That nothing could take it from her. Daddy's Little Princess IS getting the pony.

And then when reality came crushing down their loss didn't make any logical or legal since because they were OWED the Presidency. Therefore, it was clearly Russian interference.

It was HER turn dammit!

Look at the Democrats' attitudes pre and post election. Pre-election it was "Trump it's not rigged - you're just losing" to "OMG THE LECTION WAS HACKED RIGGED TRUMP NO REAL PRESIDENT omg!!!!11"

Obozo would frequently taunt Trump's low poll numbers and would literally go on Late Night talk shows saying Trump will 100% NOT be President. This was his literal belief.

Trump was a moron who couldn't even talk right much less win the Presidency. So when he does not only are they shocked but they are also HUMILIATED. They don't want to believe Trump did it all by himself. He HAD to have helped - that's the only way it makes sense in their mind. "Trump didn't beat us.... no no it was the Russians!"

The loss the Democrats faced in 2016 was the type of shock that turns people insane. They LITERALLY cannot handle it or understand it.

So to them, the "$100,000 in ads" is literally a reason why they lost. Although to a rational person it makes no sense they are not thinking rationally.

To be fair it wasn't just Democrats as well. The GOP Establishment also faced a similar shock. Trump didn't just beat the Democrats but GOP as well. A lot of the GOP rationalized Trump's dominance as him colluding with the Clintons. "Trump didn't beat us.... no no it was the Clintons!"
