What are some websites or publications that you read (or at least try to read) daily? These could be news sites, newspapers, political magazines, science magazines, science websites, blogs, journals, etc...

Personally, I make an effort to read Jacobin Magazine, Nautil.us, and The Intercept daily.

Jacobin Magazine is an explicitly Socialist publication that primarily focuses on politics, foreign affairs, environmental, and sociocultural issues from a Socialist perspective. Most of its contributors are academics, activists, and others of similar background. I find its analysis to be pretty outstanding and, even if you disagree with their position on the issues, you can at least appreciate the quality of their content. I received a subscription to their print copies and PDFs for my birthday and have been thoroughly enjoying it; I even love their artwork and design.

Nautil.us is an excellent science magazine that addresses a variety of topics that fall within the broader category of science. It covers physics, astronomy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, biology, climatology, and so on, while also providing beautiful images to accompany their articles and a well put-together magazine. The content itself is a solid A+ and definitely worth checking out if you're interested in anything scientific.

The Intercept is a rather new investigative journalism news website that, quite clearly, approaches subjects from a left-of-center perspective. It won a Webby Award in 2016 for the quality of its investigative journalism, so it's certainly a reputable site. Its layout is also pretty appealing (which, as you probably noticed, is quite important to me).

Anyway, enough shamelessly plugging my favorite sites. I hope some of you guys decide to check them out and let me know what you think. I'd also be curious to learn about some of the sites, magazines, or newspapers you frequently read since I'm always open to incorporating new sources of information.

I get the daily email from the New York Times, and over the course of the day, I’ll visit some combination  of the BBC, Politico, Indiewire, Wired, The Atlantic, and Variety/The Hollywood Reporter.

I used to, but now I'm kind of staying away from the news, all it does now is work people up and create fear, and I don't need that in my life right now.

I used to read Sputnik from time to time, you need a subscription to read the FT so I generally haven't read it, and I've never read the Jerusalem Post

The Hill I read from time to time but I think Politico's better

Not the same one every day, no.  American Conservative most often though.

Nautilus is interesting, Jacobin is usually awful, Intercept is okay sometimes maybe.

I used to read that daily as well. I believe that was the last Conservative website I stopped visiting after moving left. Rod Dreher’s articles always provided a solidly traditional conservative perspective on current issues, although I never much cared for the concept of his recent book (Christians retreating from the general culture). The non-interventionist foreign policy perspective provided regularly by that one contributor (forgot his name) was really good too.

Never really read FT or JP, and never even heard of Sputnik before, so I checked it out. I quite like it, but it seems somewhat questionable. It’s apparently run by the Russian government; I can’t say I have high opinion of Russian state-run media outlets. I used to watch and read RT frequently, but I can’t say I really trust such sources anymore.

I also try to read news from as many sides of the political spectrum as possible, but my main sources include the Washington Post, New York Times, Fox News, CNN, and also BBC and France24 because they provide a little bit of a broader perspective on American issues because they aren't right in the middle of them (and also global issues).

Thoughts on Current Affairs? It's probably my favorite left-wing publication at the moment, even more-so than Jacobin. (which I agree is heavily underrated, even among other leftists)

I only recently learned about Current Affairs, maybe a month or so ago. They seem to lean closer to the left-libertarian perspective on issues, rather than having an explicitly Socialist approach. I highly doubt they're devout Socialists committed to Marxist theory, although they've unquestionably been influenced by it. They're really good though, but I hope they start to publish more frequently as they gain greater traction. The magazine has real potential to be a more Anarchist-oriented alternative to Jacobin with similar content and quality.

Never heard of the ones you mentioned.

My reading is mainly establishment press (Washington Post, New York Times, Economist, Time, Newsweek, Foreign Affairs, etc.).

I avoid Jacobin like the plague and will read The Intercept on rare occasions. Never heard of the third one mentioned by the OP.

I check The Cleveland Plain Dealer and Politico everyday, and frequently read The Columbus Dispatch. I also listen to NPR's Up First podcast every morning.

I have a love-hate relationship with the FT. Anyone in finance knows real men read pink newspapers, despite its clear New Keynesian editorial bias, but it became so anti-Trump and pro-EU in 2016 that I lost my appetite for it. Still, I read it for Lex, which is a great column, and Martin Wolf, who is the best economic journalist in the world by far.

As for Sputnik, that's where I get my marching orders from Mr. Putin. Smiley More seriously, I think it is better to know what is coming out of the Russian Ministry of Truth than not.

Why?

Anyway, The Economist is one of the worst and has been for quite some time. Does anyone else remember their hot take on slavery from the 1860s that circulated recently?

I see no reason for a 150-year old article to affect my reading choices.

I read The Intercept daily. Greenwald is generally good and its beneficial to have a perspective other than the hawkish establishment press.
I also read various left establishment news sources (e.g., NYT, Politico, The Atlantic) and some right-establishment sources as well for balance (e.g., the Resurgent, WSJ and NRO)

Not daily, but I do read Foreign Policy a few times a week

Politico is just an establishment rag, it doesn't really lean left or right. It's proclivity for making people mad on both sides is one of the reasons I like it so much.

I avoid Jacobin because the people I know who read it IRL are annoying and have a purely academic view of how politics actually works. Which is nice, but I for one don't want to stay cooped in the ivory tower.

Huh, I only read that when I'm having trouble sleeping.

Libé is more sensationalist, but doesn't suffer from quite the same degree of langue de bois that Le Monde does.

I also flick through Le Temps, Marianne and even the Graun, which despite the SJWism still does come up with the odd gem.
