Bush bullied gays to get better conservative turnout in 2004. He was the original king of the deplorables.

How much good will it do anyone to continue crucifying the Weimar Republic?

Hardly "original".

Plus, he attacked John McCain in ways that makes Trump's attacks look like playful teasing.

I'm surprised the Trump Derangement Syndrome going around here hasn't gotten you feverishly pawing for Dubya. Kudos.

This is pretty ironic given Republicans actions the last 8 years.

We're talking about longterm damage, so yes. And it's amazing some people are still in denial about this.

Yup.

R's not owning up to their **** ups in the 2000s is still a major problem. And it is even worse since they are still pushing the same brain dead policies.

I would take a 3rd (and 4th) Dubya term rather than have one more day of Trump.

Disagree.

Dubya's admin. was terrible, but a lot more competent then Trump's admin. A ton of terrible bills would be getting passed if Dubya was president at the moment, which is a disaster for progressives.

Should be in the Hague

Also I've discovered there's a certain type of liberal that seems to honestly believe George W Bush is a better person, at a fundamental level, than Bernie Sanders.

There are hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis that would likely disagree...

I might think differently in 2 years, but given the choice between taking Bush back and keeping Trump, I'd keep Trump in a heartbeat.

Bush successfully lied us into war. He passed a series of god-awful tax cuts and deregulations that continue to have economic ramifications. He bullied the LGBT community to get elected in 2004, not to mention the swift-boating of John Kerry. He completely messed up a hurricane response and destroyed our image in the world.

Of those things, Trump has replicated one or two.

Bush is a better person than Donald Trump, with his lack of sexual assaults and superior temperament, but he's more dangerous. It's the same reason I don't want Mike Pence as President. Mike Pence is a smarter, midwestern version of George W. Bush.

The only advantage Bush has over Trump is that Bush's evangelicals were mildly better than Trump's alt-right base. But still, yeah, go away Bush, we don't want you.

Bush was one of the worst Presidents in American history.  The fact that Trump is infinitely worse has nothing to do with Bush and everything to do with the fact that less than a year into his term, Trump is already giving James Buchanan serious competition for being literally the worst President in American history.

And now a lot of revisionists, too embarassed to keep supporting him act like his main flaw is his failure to deport 11 million and expanding medicare.
