What if the Derg had failed to gain control of Ethiopia, and Hallie Selassie died staving off their attempted coup? And then Soviet influence in the country was squashed in years afterwards, thanks to them being linked to the coup attempt.

Princess Sara Gizaw, Princess Hirut Desta, Abiye Abebe, Endelkachew Makonnen, and Aklilu Habte-Wold would hopefully democratize the country, as well as Alem Zewde Tessema.
