Simple question: What do you think? Specifically why? I know this might be an obvious answer to a lot of you but I want to know what you really think.

It's difficult to say failing when the economy is still doing quite well (though no thanks to him...just saying you can't judge on economy quite yet).    The Puerto Rico mess and the Russia Scandal are both big negatives, but he seating a lot of judges including the SCOTUS seat, so he does have his success as well.

Yes. His party controls BOTH houses of Congress and he can't get any legislation through, despite the fact that he's trying to push through a traditional Reagan/Bushesque Republican agenda, and this is despite the fact that he ran against the Republican orthodoxy when he ran last year. Anything he has accomplished has been accomplished through executive order, the very thing he criticized Obama for, and he's on track to sign more than Obama did. The international situation has only gotten worse since he's gotten in and his administration seems intent on making it even worse.

Yes. Just by being what he is. He's degrading the office of president. His behavior, his speech, his lack of patience, it's all just completely inappropriate.

In addition, he's dividing his party rather than uniting it, and further dividing the country, both of which makes him an abysmal failure in my opinion.

I feel about Trump the same I feel about de Gaulle.  I cannot tell; they are very mixed feelings in me.

I will say this in comparison.  Every time Trump does something stupid, somebody on the Left tends to do something in response that is more stupid.

I am being driven toward Trump more than being attracted to him.

He's doing about as well as Bush was doing this time into his second term. With his legislative agenda in tatters, he pursued being a culture warrior by pursuing a very conservative agenda through executive domestic and foreign policy action. However, the economy was in a bubble but people mostly much ignored that. The main reason being that inflation and interest rates were low and anyone could buy anything. The main difference is that instead of a small war, there is the constant fear of a bigger war. Wait. There is one other main difference- Democrats are being much more aggressive in their opposition than they were with Bush.

My guess is that Trump's presidency will be a failure unless Democrats totally fail as an opposition party the way they did throughout most of Bush's presidency.

Divisive, ignorant, and refuses to take accountability for anything. He knows nothing about policy or the Constitution. He is a disgraceful person.

Yes.

Why? Because he's some combination of stupid, willfully ignorant, mentally ill and/or an agent of a foreign government bent on destroying our nation.

I'm assuming you really mean how is he failing.

-He can't negotiate, at least not in the way DC works. He's angered or alienated many people whose cooperation he needs to do his job.
-He's not even attempting to do huge swathes of the job, which he does not appear to understand. He's a poor executive and leader.
-He's made a lot of plain bad decisions, irrespective of politics.
-Even our worst or most divisive presidents since the Civil War have understood that they are the President of the whole country. Trump cannot or will not do this.

There's probably more, but that covers most of ir.

Incompetent as a politician, and ineffective as a moral leader. A reasonably good President like Reagan or Obama can nudge the political climate some contrary to the desires and instincts of others. Trump is getting people who opposed his ideology to hate it more and causing people willing at first to give him a chance to get impatient with him.

As a businessman he has had his core source of wealth in the easy money of leasing prime real estate to high-income tenants while getting others to take the big risks for his highly-leveraged efforts for his gain and glory. He's just lucky that his efforts did not end up with an Enron-style implosion. This is a President willing to take great risks for his own glory and inflict the risks of catastrophic ruin in the event of failure upon everyone else.

He is horrible, and so far he has gotten away with what he has done because he is President of the United States of America. But that might not be enough to prevent the worst calamity in American history since the Civil War. One thing is certain: he is not Abraham Lincoln, who inherited a political reality that was going very bad for a very long time and was festering badly with the politicians of the time making things worse.

George W. Bush might be somewhat comparable to Taylor, Pierce, and Fillmore and Clinton perhaps to Polk, George H W Bush to Van Buren, and Reagan to Jackson. But Obama is not Buchanan.  Trump is as far from Lincoln as he could be.

We could need a Lincoln... or for a foreign example, Adenauer... to get our way out of the Trump disaster.

He already was a failure before he became President. It’s just that now his many failings are coming to light because he’s a public figure. The biggest deplorable in the basket.

Uh, yes. You can agree with him (which I don't) but the man is a bloody idiot. He's incompetent, impatient, lazy, rude, mean and he doesn't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever. He's also a terrible example for America's children (or the world's children for that matter). I also don't like most of his aides, but I have tremendous respect for them as they have to babysit this man 24/7 while preventing him from starting a nuclear war or something similar out of complete boredom. Thanks for saving the world alt-right aides!

Look, if he were in ANY other job he would have been fired already due to his behavior. So yes, he's failing.
