Is it significant though? How much don't we already know?

Most of it we already know but, I suspect, the majority of the other files might relate to Oswald being a confirmed Soviet agent and/or double. Also, probably that the CIA was tracking him but fd up and Dallas happened so they tried to hide it.

Now that you mention it, finding out if Oswald was a Soviet agent would be pretty significant.

This is, of course, being highly politicized when these were due for release next week anyway (regardless of who was President, unless they wanted to block the release for national security/intelligence reasons).

To quote the disgraceful John Kelly: "and in a long tradition of empty barrels making the most noise..."

This might be related to JFK's presidency, as opposed to the assassination.

I have always suspected that and the reason for the cover up wasn't because of conspiracy but due to a severe and epic snafu by Langley to track him and detain him. Remember, they had Oswald earlier (FBI) and let him go thinking he was just a bit nutty but didn't mean any harm. Also, the fact that he had a Soviet wife and made trips to Russia should have been a clear alarm bell going off to arrest him on charges of potential espionage but he fell through the bureaucratic cracks. These docs might reveal that. If so, the cover up was to contain the massive sh*tstorm that would follow but here at home and at large with cries for war. An assassination by a foreign agent of a president would have been a casus belli in most American eyes of that time and even today.

A distraction to get the fake lamestream news media off the fallen soldier's widow controversy. Deplorable Defecting Donald is so pathetic.

Is the Dear Leader going to release documents that "prove" that he was right along when he said that Ted Cruz's father helped assassinate Kennedy?

Ted Cruz must be scared!

Anyways, it’s been scheduled for years. Interested to see what’s in there.

Folks, this is not a sudden or unexpected development.   In 1992, Congress ruled that all assassination documents can be released within 25 years, unless the president asserts that doing so would harm intelligence, law enforcement, military operations, or foreign relations.  The 25-year deadline expires on Oct. 26.  Trump has simply decided not to block the scheduled release.  I give him credit for not blocking the release; but this is not a case that he's suddenly decided to share some long-hidden information.  It was going to happen unless the President (whoever that happened to be in 2017) blocked it.

I will be very interested to see if they shed any new light on the assassination.  It's the first big public news event that I was really aware of in my life.  (I remember air raid drills in school during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but it wasn't until much later that I connected the drills with the crisis.)

When I Google'd "Rafael Cruz" I get:

"People also ask:

What happened to Oswald's wife and daughter?
When did Lee Harvey Oswald get shot?
What is the net worth of Ted Cruz?
Who killed Kennedy?"

hmm

Doesn't it have to be released this year by statute?
