I would obviously vote for Ronald Reagan, and for me this is extremely easy as this is comparing the best Presidential Candidate since 1960 with the worst.

Not a fan of either, but keeping in mind that Wallace had a much more moderate position on racial issues by '76, I'd consider voting for him as his positions on most other issues were preferable to Reagan's IMO. In the end I'd write-in someone or just not vote though, most likely.

Ronald Reagan obviously. But seriously, how is Reagan winning this poll? Atlas is known for it's irrational hatred of the great Ronald Reagan. Reagan once lost a poll to Fidel Castro on here for f**k's sake. I guess it's because of the small amount of people that voted. Eventually Atlas probably will proudly vote for the actual segregationist by a landslide Smiley.

Wait really

Maybe he didn't lose, but it was a dead heat. There also once was a Cuomo vs the world series in which Cuomo lost to Mao, Hitler and Stalin (but most people weren't serioues).

Never mind, it was a lefties only poll and Reagan narrowly won Tongue.

Which was the exact purpose of my post. Thank you for acknowledging my greatness Smiley.

I'd back the inevitable McCarthy third party bid.

RR. I would have chosen any Republican over Mr. "Segregation Forever", let alone Reagan.

Why are you proposing a match-up only so that your preferred candidate can win?

I predicted it would be very close , which it is.

Also the reason I did this was in the 1972 one , we did a matchup between one of Atlas least favorites Republicans of that era vs a Dixecrat , and this one is exactly like that , but with a Republican the Atlas Dems like even less .

George Wallace. He wasn't against social programs and moderated himself in the 1970s. Because Reagan is the alternative, I'd reluctantly give him a shot.

That's one I take issue with too; yours is meant to vindicate one kind of narrative, Johnsons's is to vindicate another.

There's a good chance that if I had this kind of a match up, I wouldn't vote for President but only vote down ticket. I couldn't vote in a Presidential election matchup of a man who made a name for himself due to  his bigotry vs another man who pandered to bigots, made the Religious Right a strong force in American Politics, and set the stage for the decline of the middle class.

Curious as to why?  I'd think Wallace is too liberal for you.......

Anyway, obviously Reagan.

He was a populist, a social conservative, and less hawkish than Reagan.
