No because marriage has legal and fincancial frameworks that would have to be completely redone. Additionally while I'm not really a social conservative I do believe that certain things are a bridge to far. No one can stop people from living how they want however.

No, because it will tend to cause a shortage of eligible women for men who are not alpha men. Now granted, giving the seeming increasing popularity of going gay, that would be somewhat of an offsetting factor. The matter of how to handle property rights for such more complex arrangements in a manner that comports with good public policy, is also something of a challenge.

This already happened due to the fact that non-marital sex is now fully accepted.

Marriage, now shorn of its traditional markers and the rights-of-passage associated with it (which were always largely stylized anyway), is fundamentally a legal contract.

Good luck trying to re-write the law of any western country to recognize marriages where the number of parents is n>2

Unfortunately this is true (what DavidB said lead to the fact Torie mentionned), but polyamourous marriage would make the problem worse I think.

This is probably going to happen pretty soon for kids of gay parents with a surrogate parent.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I oppose it.

It’s obvious that civilization will not survive the decade, so why not? Still doesn’t help me out, though...

Polygamy would allow you to marry both your hands rather than choose. So, that’s a win for you.
