Right now, his favorables are in the gutter. But in 2020, his favorables were extremely good for a modern politician ... he was often hitting 50-55% favorables, with a net favorable in the range of +5-10% (https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/biden_favorableunfavorable-6677.html#polls)

The only other modern-day politican with favorables just as good as Biden 2020 was Obama, who often pushed 60% favorables (i.e. even better than Biden).

Were Biden's favorables a reflection of Obama, the president under whom Biden served? Or did he get high favorables because many people back then viewed him as a moderate instead of a liberal?

Right now, candidates like Tim Scott and Nikki Haley, who haven't been offensive or unlikeable, don't have favorables close to Biden 2020. Both them run about even with 30% favorable / 30% unfavorable

Another one is Bernie Sanders, who (in spite of his far-left politics) is understood to be a nice guy. Yet his favorables were always around 40-44%, and his unfavorables hovered around 46-48%. So even he didn't come close to having Biden 2020 favorables

In 2020, Biden was the generic non-Trump candidate. He basically was the fabled "Generic D" that does so well in polling. Now, he has an economic/foreign policy record that is dragging him down.

He's a good, likable man who hadn't been excessively demonized by decades of GOP propaganda like Hillary had been.

Also he was more well-known nationally as a former VP than the likes of Haley or Scott, and less polarizing than Bernie who has an intense, aggressive personality in contrast to Biden's warm and empathetic personality.

He wasn't Trump and was associated with the guy before Trump. And that's pretty much it. The idea Biden was thought of as particularly warm is false:

Anyone can post out of context clips to "prove" pretty much anything.

Case in point:

Hell, you could even say bizarro moments like "lying dog faced pony soldier" humanized Biden in some ways and endeared him to voters rather than make them think he was "cold." You have utterly failed to prove that premise. Indeed him having a bit of a temper at times supports rather than opposes my premise.
