New York Personality: direct, no filter, what you say comes from the "soul", can come off as tactless and aggressive, says "f you" when they mean "hello".

Los Angeles Personality: Artificial niceness, always smiling, but lots of gossip and talking behind back, says "hello" but really means "f you".

I know this is a generalization but I think they exist for a reason.

both are pretty horrible, and it sucks because a good chunk of foreign tourists spend a good amount of time in both.  And most of the rest are in Florida.  uggggg

It's no wonder the rest of the world hates us.

Both are terrible, and the question is not dichotomous.

As a general rule, I always throw my hat in with those west of the Mississippi in discussions like this. Even with all the gossip and cliques, you'll generally encounter many more legitimately nice people out West.

Since you already said these were generalizations, i wont really budge much on the fact that the whole New York personality some put on New Yorker's is very vague and tends to only talk about the New York City area itself, not the surrounding Long Island Suburbs (Nassau and Suffolk) and almost all of Upstate New York (give or take Westchester or the Bronx) which i can tell you are vastly different in attitudes compared to those from the Five Boroughs. Anyway's to the question: I like the truth no matter what compared to falseness and lying. I'll take being mean/rude over being nice/censored if it means being lied too or not.

Obviously, I have to vote for my city--flawless, beautiful Los Angeles. I don't like the blunt rudeness of NY, and we are legitimately polite and charming. It isn't superficial.
However, I wish LA had a bit more of the power hungry drive of New York. We could use a few more bankers.

I think New York, but perhaps I would get tired of dealing with NY @*******s after a while.

I feel like I like the NY one better but many would probably say that I fit the LA one better
