Businessman Donald J. Trump has been elected the 45th President of the United States, Chris Christie elected 48th Vice President

Businessman Donald Trump (R-NY)/Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) - 274 Electoral Votes

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) - 264 Electoral Votes

He had done it, the real-estate tycoon from New York had won the highest office if the land by a mere 6 Electoral votes. The win had sent shock waves throughout the world, as his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, had dramatically large leads against The Donald through the whole election. The win, though, was far from unexpected from the Democratic National Committee, who had pulled funding from the campaign after a slew of scandals, from FBI Director James Comey re-opening the investigation against her, to theorized medical problems being used against her, to even a right-winged conspiracy theory about Democrats running a pedophile ring in a pizza shop. The Democrats ultimately had enough, they had given up and instead, focused on other races, including the United States Senate. The move had paid off in the end, as they had gained a crucial wing of Congress that could block the President-elects insane demands.

Democrats: 52 Seats (+6)

Republicans: 48 Seats (-6)

Among the seats gained within the Senate, Former Senators Russell Feingold and Evan Bayh of Wisconsin and Indiana respectively, won a non-consecutive re-election against weak GOP nominees. Other pickups include Katie McGinty in Pennsylvania, Jason Kander in Missouri, and Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire. These gains in the Senate would only give the party relative peace, though, as they'd be shell shocked by terrible news in January.

January Surprise: A Special Announcement from Senator Sanders

A statement from Vermont's Independent Senator on the election was almost expected from the get-go. Bernie had challenged Secretary Clinton for the nomination, and ultimately lost the bitter campaign. Some after the election blamed him for Clinton's loss, after stating that he would not withdraw from the Democratic Primary before the convention, nor endorse her afterwards. The statement was presumed to be cookie cutter, even for Bernie standards, but the media, and the nation, had a whole other thing coming towards them.

Statement from Senator Sanders:
"Good afternoon, I apologize for the silence since the November elections, but I had to consider many things for the statement I am giving today. First of all, I must congratulate now President Donald Trump on winning, it may not have been the result I would have wanted, but he is who we elected. I would say I was shocked when I heard the news, but that would be lying. During the primary race against Secretary Clinton and the Democrats, I had learned of many things. The Democratic Party complex has been corrupted to no end with shady, ineffective politicians, such as the Secretary herself. Their approach to Government has been notably week over the past few decades, and the party is working for their wallets, not the people of our country. Yet, no one has done anything about it. I am announcing that I will no longer caucus with the Democrats as an Independent Senator. Instead, I am forming my own party for true Progressive Liberals, like the millions of voters cheated out of an effective President."

The Senator's statement shocked many around the world, affecting everything from Democratic Party poll numbers to stock prices. All the world could do, is wait. Wait to see what chaos this party would bring to Democrats, wait to see the reaction of their Republican co-workers and the President, wait to see how they will affect the future of U.S. politics.
