I think he's got a really great southern charm to him. I just watched his speech on confederate statues.. and wow. It was really good. Of course I don't know that he has any path and I know I have a tendency to overhype things in my head but I'm not the only one who see's him with a national future right? Maybe not the white house, but at least his sisters old senate seat right? and feel free to tell me i'm crazy, it's helpful for me to consider and sharpen my political chops.

Nah, I actually think he has a better chance of being elected president than winning a statewide office in Louisiana, from what I can tell he's unpopular.

And I don't see a path to the presidential nomination either.

On statues Mitch is not much better than Don Quixote. On other things I guess he's sensible? Not very familiar with his record.

Good. New Orleans has really recovered under him.

He could run for US Congress, perhaps. Speaker Landrieu in 30 years?

Yeah, that would be more reasonable than jumping straight to a presidential campaign.

A run for congress I think is the one realistic path for him to continue his political career in elective office.

No, just no. He is even below Delaney tier candidacies.

Had he made any bold and/or inspiring speeches on issues that have actual substance, meaning, and importance?

Since there's only 1 Democratic district in Louisiana, and the rest are R+13 or more, he'd have a hard primary time against Cedric Richmond in the majority-black district.

A run for congress I think is the one realistic path for him to continue his political career in elective office.

This would require redistricting, unless Landrieu would carry the predominantly black district that contains the city of New Orleans.

Most of the territory in New Orleans' suburbs is inelastically Republican these days.
