Why can't Republicans ever unite around one candidate?

Why can't Republicans ever unite around one candidate?

According to the article, Republican voters went 43% for Allen, 33% for Cox, 6% for Villaraigosa, and a combined 7% for the other Democratic candidates

Is the California GOP so weak that they can no longer contest federal races? From the polls released today, both this and the Senate race would be DvD.

My hopes are that John Chiang can somehow manage to pull an upset.  He'd be a great Governor for the state.

Ancient post, but because the Cali GOP is split between a handful of factions...Border Patrollers, Libertarians, Moderates, Chamber of Commerce...

And you could make the argument that every state party is split between several factions, but California is geographically and population-graphically (it's a word, shut up) much bigger than any other state, and the Cali GOP is much weaker than many other state parties.

Newsom isn't a firebrand progressive but Villaraisoga is more to the right than him. Surprised Newsom doesn't have a bigger lead !

This man had the talent to cause a run-off, and then nearly lose to a Green party candidate.

Newsom seems kinda like an empty suit. I feel like his lead is going to keep shrinking.
