I just went through every college town in Massachusetts to see which direction they lean. Obviously most of them are super liberal but there were a few surprises. If you have any other states, feel free to add them!

What would the categories be in R+ situations? I'm guessing something to do with Mussolini and incest.

Worth noting that Pyongyang on the Charles voted for Bill Weld over John Silber in 1990. Doubt any R+40 town would vote for a D over a child molester.

R+20 (WINGNUT TOWNS)
R+30 (NEO-CONFEDERATE TOWNS)
R+40 (TRUMPGRAD/BUDAPEST ON/IN THE _____)

Although there’s no way a college town is above R+20

How about Gilead for R+40 (lol; those don't exist) - a reference to the Handmaid's Tale

What I find interesting about college towns is how they influence the areas surrounding them. Among other, Carbondale, IL; Athens, OH; Madison, WI; Lawrence, KS all have rural areas nearby that vote significantly more Democratic than demographically similar rural areas in neighboring counties. I don't know if this can be chalked up to commuters, cultural-geographic influence, or what.

Originally I was gonna call Cambridge "The Community" (from The Giver) but in the book the community takes on the worst of both parties. The collectivism of the far left and the 50s-esque of the far right

Some small Christian colleges in the South might be.  College Station, Texas; Auburn, Alabama; and Lubbock, Texas might all be up there as well.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Lynchburg, Va would be R+40 if it was just the college precincts.

In a normal year, Provo, Utah and Rexburg, Idaho. But I think at least Provo voted for McMullin, so its PVI will be all messed up.

Pyongyang? Roll Eyes

Anyway most of these are not "college towns" in any meaningful sense.

Like, I live near Conway and Montague and I didn't even know they had colleges until now.

I just used the most broad definition of college and went by wikipedia's list. The one in montague is a small college in Turner's Falls and the one in Conway is a landscaping design college (wtf) with an enrollment of like 15 students
