I honestly think this is just trolling by Mugabe.

As some coup-watchers have been pointing out on Twitter, the first place to look is to see what foreign diplomats are saying. As of now, no foreign embassies in Zimbabwe have issued any advisories noting unusual troop movements in Harare and the travel bulletins just now released by the British foreign office did not have any notice of political developments in Zimbabwe.

It could just be the military moving tanks around to show Mugabe that they're serious about their threat.

I would like to point out that most foreign citizens wouldn't willingly go to Zimbabwe. If they went to an African country it probably would be Egypt or South Africa.

...Ok? I'm not sure what relevance that has to anything. Keeping nationals updated on new and dangerous conditions in foreign countries is what embassies and foreign service workers ARE THERE FOR, even in countries that aren't tourist meccas. Not many Americans want to go to North Korea but the State Department keeps a continually updated advisory for potential tourists.

The military has moved on the broadcaster ZBC and according to AP, multiple explosions have been heard in the capital. Seems like something is happening.

Due to ongoing uncertainty in Zimbabwe, the U.S. Embassy in Harare will be minimally staffed and closed to the public on November 15.  Embassy personnel will continue to monitor the situation closely. @StateDept

Given what happened earlier this month, it's more like a counter-coup against Grace Mugabe.

Yes it looks like the military is installing the sacked VP as President a little ahead of schedule.

Can it really be called a coup? It is probably the quietest coup ever.

FWIW the person who is expected to be put into power (the former VP) was Mugabe's former defense minister, and is still considered a hardliner.

Well, hopefully he's now less of a hardliner...

Wow, that really was an underreported coup. I didn't even know it succeeded.

Actually, when Gaddafi took power in Libya, there were no reports for a couple of days before a cautious BBC message: "it appears some sort of a coup might've took place in Libya".

Obviously Santander’s evergreen warning holds true, though it’s hard to see how anyone could be worse than Mugabe
