Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey wins the GOP gubernatorial primary to run for a full term after former Gov. Robert Bentley's disgraceful governorship. She faces off against young centrist Democrat Walt Maddox and the surprise entry of Independent no-nonsense candidate, former NBA legend Charles Barkley. Who wins?

Barkley wins.

A Democrat isn't going to win a Statewide race in Alabama (sorry Doug Jones), and it's also rather easy to beat an unelected Governor (I wouldn't be surprised if both Ivey and Kim Reynolds lost).

Charles Barkley (I) 37%
Walt Maddox (D) 32%
Kay Ivey (R) 31%

Barkley would get lots of black voters, some black voters see Barkley as an Uncle Tom because he doesn't toe the liberal ideology line.

A Gov. Barkley would be historic, I wonder if the AL GOP in the State Legislature would work with him.
