With Cordray resigning from his position at the CFPB, he looks to me like a serious contender. More likely for the Ohio gubernatorial race than for the presidency, but depending on the situation even the former could quickly become the latter, or a VP slot for a Harris or Gillibrand type ticket. What do you all think?

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat, in both the Democratic primary and the general.

He's officially declared for the Ohio gubernatorial race. Governor of Ohio is always a contender for President/VP.

Is this true? I mean, it says so on the Wikipedia page, but all the sources they link use words like 'assumed'.

I really hope he will run, but I don't see that he's already declared.

Well, perhaps he hasn't set up a campaign website or filed with the FEC yet, but the Columbus Dispatch's Public Affairs Editor is confirming on Twitter that Cordray will run for governor. And the Ohio GOP has already started calling him Crooked Cordray.

If Cordray wins the governorship, then Sherrod Brown will probably be the frontrunner to be the 2020 VP nominee, simply because a Dem. winning the governorship of Ohio means that Brown is free to give up his Senate seat without handing it over to the GOP.

But I don't think Cordray himself will be a short lister for VP, let alone the presidency.

Are you serious? That's what they're going with?

They've been saying it for a while now, apparently.

Yet another example of how every headline phrased as a question can be answered with 'no'.

Not sure that we'll have President Pence come 2020. Who knows, maybe one term of Biden and then Cordray?
