Yeah, the little chance we already had of seeing President Al Franken in the future has become nonexistent.

Another Atlas sweetheart bites the dust.

These are two strange things to say back-to-back, LOL.

Anyway, it's scary to think of how many Senators are just quietly flying under the radar for this kind of behavior ... for now.

The “Oh well” was meant to say it was a shame that such a good senator and potential Pres candidate was a gross creep.

Ah, gotcha.  FWIW, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, it just sounded odd. Smiley

Tongue

He claimed that a woman he knew well (I think maybe related to?) had been sexually assaulted by Franken.

Did the Atlas believe him?

Anyway, MN 2020 could be competitive if Franken decides to run for reelection anyway Cheesy (and Franken definitely won't run for president with this).

Franken's statement:

“I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann. As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn't. I shouldn't have done it,"

So how bad do we think this is? On the spectrum from "Nothing happens" to "Franken loses reelection" to "Franken immediately resigns", I feel like this alone isn't enough to force him out of office, but there's usually a lot more than one woman.

I don't remember it being believed. Then again it wasn't very detailed I think.

Spade also claimed that Mark Warner chose not to run for president in 2008 because of a sexual harassment incident from his past, which I think was a rumor that was alluded to at some point on Daily Kos.

I really liked Al Franken and was looking forward to his potential Presidential run in 2020. Unfortunately, he decided to sexually assault someone. I hope he resigns, especially if another revelation occurs.

Despite 2017 being an overall awful year, at least one good thing has been happening this year: Americans are being made aware of how common sexual abuse and assault are, that so many people in positions of power abuse their privileges to harm and exploit others, and all these popular/powerful people with such skeletons in their closet are having their true colors revealed by brave victims. We need to continue this and out every last perpetrator of sexual abuse/assault so that maybe we can finally do something about rape culture and victim shaming in this country.

Yep.  It's really easy to go from thinking, "I would never sexually assault someone" - which any normal person would think - and seeing a person you like get accused of such a thing and thinking, "he would never do that!" or at least be skeptical of the claims.  I think we're seeing that the truth of Hollywood and DC and areas of concentrated power is a lot closer to the horror stories than it is to how it's portrayed.

Men are finding out what a lot of women already knew. (That’s a good thing)

Why can't these people just keep their hands to themselves? Is the end of your political/entertainment career really worth it?

Such people never believe they're going to be caught or punished for their actions.

Al Franken will never be president of the United States. Never.

Franken 2020 is over. Maybe an alternative election, but never.
