I feel like we discussed this in the Franken TL but I'll ask again because I forget Tongue

How did Diaz-Balart lose in FL-25, and by 19 points? Even in 2016, he won by about 25 points.

I just don't see how he would go down, even in a D wave.

(Not trying to sound confrontational, btw)

I don't think he went down by 19 points, rather, he's the 19th D gain in the list.

He’s the 19th Dem gain. ITL it’s one of the closest results and subject to several recounts.

Diaz-Balart could definitely lose if (a) Republicans are not excited to come out, (b) Democrats are very excited to come out, and (c) Alina Valdes goes to literally every voter's door and tells them who she is

I hate to be the one to tell you this...but 91 (92 if you include the United Utah Party's gain) seats is a little excessive in this era of partisanship. If Trump sees things going that badly, he'll cancel the elections.

I bash the Republicans in my current TL, and I only gave them about 50 seats in 2018.

Also, I shudder for the concept of Liz Cheney as Minority Leader.

And considering the massive generational and regional shifts we've been seeing, with Democrats netting young and suburban voters in droves, a realigning tidal wave isn't at all out of the question. Suburban districts like Sessions' and Culberson's are swinging fast.

Wouldn't Warren do better with a smaller Democratic gain? Then Democrats would feel a need to ditch the establishment and go to the populist left, which if Bernie doesn't run is likely her.

RONNA ROMNEY-MCDANIEL RESIGNS RNC CHAIR; BLASTS TRUMP ON WAY OUT

"The blame for this disaster must fall on the White House," former RNC Chair Ronna Romney-McDaniel declared to reporters outside of her Salt Lake City home early Wednesday morning.

"It's also safe to say I will not be showing up to work tomorrow. This was the job of my dreams, but the idiocy coming out of the President's mouth has torpedoed many good men and women who are out of jobs this evening."

"God help whoever follows me into this job."

Early names floating around include the President's daughter, Ivanka Trump, the President's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, former Press Secretary Sean Spicer, and former United States Senator Orrin Hatch.

TRUMP BLAMES ROMNEY-MCDANIEL, "LOSER" RYAN, "MORON" MCCONNELL ON MIDTERM DESTRUCTION; GOES ON BIZARRE RANT

"This was a bad night, folks," the 45th President declared to the press corps the morning after the worst electoral defeat for the Republican Party since the 1974 midterm elections.

"But the fact that that nasty woman, Ronna Romney, who, I think, is still working for her uncle Mitt Romney, who never liked me, and in fact tried to sabotage me, repeatedly, but the fact that that woman criticized me is disgusting. No one has done more for the Republican Party than me. If Ronna Romney wants to look at what caused the major defeats last night, she can look in the mirror. She can look at her good friend, the loser Paul Ryan, who lost to some steel worker last night endorsed by the Socialist Party. He's a loser, he's weak, he's the worst House Speaker in history. I look forward to working with Nancy Pelosi because at least she has some balls, which is something Paul Ryan doesn't have. And Ronna, Ronna can look at her good friend Mitch McConnell, who has been sabotaging our attempts to Make America Great Again, who is the most low-energy politician I've ever met, it's a shame he wasn't running last night because he would've lost too and it would've made me very happy. Mitch McConnell is a moron, and he should resign. I'm glad Chuck Schumer will be Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer's a great guy, who's going to be a great Majority Leader. I can work with Chuck, Chuck is New York, I'm New York, as a matter of fact I voted for him many times, so I can work with Chuck. Ronna can look at me Making America Great Again with the Democrats because the Republicans were cowards, and they threw me under the bus, and I'll work with the Democrats and I think the Democrats can work with me too to Make America Great Again. Ronna can look at my beautiful, lovely daughter Ivanka taking Ronna's job and Ivanka will do a much better job than Ronna will ever do, a much better job, because Ivanka is extremely talented, she's extremely beautiful, and she's the right person to turn the RNC around to help us Make America Great Again. If she doesn't want to, and she might not want to, she hasn't told me if she wants to, but if she doesn't want to take over Ronna's mess, my son-in-law Jared Kushner, who I love like a son, would be a great RNC chair too. Very smart, very talented, very good with money, much better than Ronna. Everyone's better than Ronna. Thank you."
