No it is not all you really need. Lol. I would go so far as to say his vote against the ACA ought to be held up as ultimately meaningless, or at least, not important.
Your views about Representative Lipinski are ignorant of political realities, and not held by the people of Illinois' 3rd congressional district. If they were, he would have been primaried years ago.

Doesn't he have good constituent services? Isn't that an important part of a congresscritter's job?

again, I don't care how personally charming dan lipinski is, he's a bad person who pushes policies that make people's lives worse (ex: voting against the ACA, his anti-abortion nonsense, etc)

His vote against the ACA hurt no one. I wouldn't be shocked if Pelosi gave him permission to vote against against it.

It appears that he hasn't generally voted along with Rs in regards to repealing the bill itself.

So is he practically a Republican for voting to repeal the medical device tax?

He’s not moderate on economics, and he literally supports a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. I don’t usually dislike Democrats for being too right-wing, but this is different.

He helped create the House compromise to fix the ACA and votes against repealing. Whether or not you agree with his abortion stance, he's a pragmatist at heart who wants to get things done, not a right-winger.

I really don't get why Lipinski fans are wringing their hands over this. If Lipinski is such an amazing fit for the district then he'll win re-election. If he loses, then I guess he wasn't a great fit after all. If you like Lipinski because of his positions on the issues, fine, but don't support him because he fits the stereotype of that particular slice of Chicagoland.

So he's an even better congressman than the GOAT Stephen Lynch. Got it!

Oh, I don't doubt he will win. I'm just not a fan of Gillibrand's hypocritical political posturing. She used to be a Blue Dog too, after all and evidently didn't have a problem with conservative Dems back then...

There's a huge amount of Atlas members who think every Congressman is just a swell guy who gets stuff done and should never be criticized ever, when in reality there are maybe like 7 of them total that should be treated with any level of respect.

Here's an idea guys: If the congressman is as good a fit for his district as you say, then you have nothing to worry about. If they lose, then obviously you were wrong.

She was also in a relatively Republican district. Notice she isn't currently supporting primary challengers of Collin Peterson or whichever of those Oregon guys is kind of moderate.

"A very conservative Democrat"? The American Conservative Union has given Dan Lipinski an average approval score of 19% for his votes in the House - years 2005 to 2016.

that's pretty friggin high for a Democrat in 2017.

For kicks and grins I decided to compare Lipinski's ACU score to the other Democrats who represent chunks of the city of Chicago.

Danny Davis (representing IL-7 since 1997) ACU average of 4%.
Luiz Guiterrez (representing IL-4 since 1993) ACU average of 5%.
Robin Kelly (representing IL-2 since 2013) ACU average of 5%.
Dan Lipinski (representing IL-3 since 2005) ACU average of 19%.
Mike Quigley (representing IL-5 since 2009) ACU average of 2.5%.
Bobby Rush (representing IL-1 since 1993) ACU average of 4%.
Jan Schakowsky (representing IL-9 since 1999) ACU average of 3%.

So yes, his score is much higher than the other Chicago Democrats, but 19% is still a long ways from being a "very conservative Democrat."

Go Newman! The fact that everyone is praising Lipinski for "standing with the unborn" is more than enough for me.

I hope Lipinski wins.  He is actually one of the few Democrats I have a positive opinion of.
