I guess Trumplicans are going to quickly find out they can't blame the "liberal media" for everything... even when trying to justify their actions to law enforcement.

He should resign for a number of reasons.

Time for you to put your money where your mouth is on the "law and order" business, Republicans. Force this asshole out, see to his prosecution, and launch another special election.

I'm still trying to figure out why in the hell did they allow him to swear in in the first place? Republicans have a comfortable enough majority in the House already and one less seat would hardly hurt them (although Montana would still be vacant and another special election would have to be called).

Assaultana had a chance to vote for someone else and they said no. Likely R.

Blaming the liberal media will be their answer to God when he questions their sins.

1. Generalizing all Republicans like this is bad.
2. I have called for the resignation of both Gianforte and Moore, but I am a Republican.
3. Did you call for the resignation of Bill Clinton, Al Franken, or Ted Kennedy?

The 99% of bad Republicans give the rest a bad name.

More seriously, I appreciate that people are Republicans for a variety of reasons but the problem with the idea that (virtually) all Republicans can't be generalized is that self identified Republicans are self selecting. A person is not a Republican in the same way that a person is a women, a member of a racial group or even, to a large degree, a member of a religion.

The vast majority of remaining self identified Republicans identify with Trump and the vast majority of them are genuinely terrible people.

Pretty sure if I did that, i'd go to jail.

It's a double standard. One rule for the rich and powerful, another for the rest of us. An epitome of the corrupt system.

No Wulfric or Heisenberg post in this thread? Weird.

I doubt that voters who still care about this incident were ever going to vote for Gianforte anyway. He is definitely vulnerable though, and 2018 is going to come down to who shows up at the polls and who the Dems nominate. The general consensus seems to be that the race is Lean R and that GF probably wins by 4-7 percentage points, while Tester wins by 4-10 (Likely D), but I'm skeptical that there will be that many Gianforte/Tester voters or that either race is already over. Maybe private polling is showing both Tester and Gianforte up by a lot right now, but they have more name recognition than their opponents, so that shouldn't be too surprising. We'll see, it should be an interesting election season again.

Who would be a good candidate for the Democrats, MT?

I do agree that Gianforte is vulnerable and that a wave can wash him away, but Montana Democrats need to nominate the right person. They haven't had a good track record lately for MT-AL.

As a first time politician pushed in by the Montana D patriarchy, Quist was a bad debator who didn't really know how to articulate himself... but that's not a crime. It wouldn't be politics without bad candidates from time to time. On the other hand physical assault is a crime, and lying to the police and public about it only compounds it. Now, if you don't care about the law that's one thing, but then why be a lawmaker, or vote for one? I don't care who the president of the American Knitting Association is because I don't care about knitting. I don't care what the rules of cricket are because I don't watch cricket. If you don't care what the law is, why would you be a professional maker of them? Just saying...

I'm kind of worried that this will hurt Assualterforte, but then again, this is Assualtana. Smiley But anyway, weren't there rumors somewhere that Gianforte was considering retirement?
