How could a possible battleground map Donald Trump vs. Steve Bullock look like?

My suggestion:

Safe/Likely/Lean Bullock: 238 electoral votes
Safe/LIkely/Lean Trump: 179 electoral votes
Toss-up: 121 electoral votes

Switch Missouri and Montana, move Minnesota and Nevada to lean, and I agree.

Montana should only be Lean Trump or maybe even toss-up. Bullock is popular there.

I'd rate Minnesota at pretty strong Democratic.

There is definitely a Republican opportunity/Democratic risk in Minnesota. I've just checked the exit polls again, and the 18-24 year old cohort went 48-43% for Trump, the 2nd most Republican cohort in Minnesota. The R trend was even more pronounced than I remembered it. The oldest cohort, which is dropping off, actually voted 49-47% Clinton.

How on Earth would Bullock get the democratic nomination? He's far from the first choice of most true progressives and minorities. White moderates may decide democrat primaries in Montana, but not nationally. If he somehow did win, he'd probably have the same swing state map as 2016, but with Michigan leaning democrat.

State elections aren't national elections. Charlie Baker also wouldn't win Massachusetts in a prediential election. Though I could see Bullock coming within single digits in Montana (maybe 51-45% or so).
