Nah, if anything, Cruz/Carson would have inspired more social conservatives to turn out and vote for McCrory. Trump is the best thing that happened to Roy Cooper's political career.

You are probably right.

But the GOP would have lost Senate seats in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
